ThinkPad T61 Model 7663-CTO

Hi! 22 May 2016 I wrote http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=121110&hilit=headless+firewall detailing a build for a ThinkPad T61 Headless Firewall on Fedora 23. I've been using this firewall ever since but noticed occasional "hitching" when playing games or using VOIP where everything just...

Re: Anyone running FreeBSD

Correct!

I ran my test installs of FreeNAS on a ThinkPad. I love using ThinkPads for test boxes.

Re: Anyone running FreeBSD

I run FreeNAS (on one box) which is based on FreeBSD.

FYI:

Code: Select all

[root@freenas] ~# sysctl -n kern.osrelease kern.ostype
9.2-RELEASE-p15
FreeBSD
[root@freenas] ~#

Re: ThinkPad T61 Headless Firewall with Fedora 23

Only problem so far, is finding a 1GB pcmcia or USB NIC supported by FreeBSD, but my ThinkPad xxXxxxx box has been running ok with a 100Mb NIC so far. You may want to actually read the above post as this is not the only problem and can leave people in a bad position. That bad position being 1) wast...

ThinkPad T61 Headless Firewall with Fedora 23

I've been doing this for some time because I love the flexibility of a full-blown linux firewall protecting my network and I'm a fan of Fedora. I've used Fedora since it was first named "Fedora" to better distinguish RedHat up-stream from enterprise offerings. I will provide URLs both for reference ...

I can clearly see you understand and feel my pain :-) Yes, the HD is a risk. I have spares and just need to make some time to backup so I could restore to a spare. It doesn't run anything as important as e-mail so the backup I have is kinda old. I think it's definitely time I prepare a back-up and a...

T30 Red Hat Linux Video Driver and/or X Configuration

Hi, I have a T30 (2366-66U) with the Radeon 7500. It's not a primary system but it is hooked into my KVM. I recently bought a new Samsung 275t monitor. It's seriously sweet :-) I would like to drive my new, large monitor at 1280x768 from my T30. I know how to manage XF86Config but seem to be running...

ThinkPad T30 - Red Hat 8.0
ThinkPad 770 - FC 4

I voted other. Should I have gone with FC and consider that covering RH?

Hi! First post for me! I used to run my firewall on an old IBM ThinkPad 760 through Red Hat 7ish. Now I run my firewall on an IBM ThinkPad 770 with FC4. I tried to install FC on the 760 using several different versions. I didn't want to fight the memory issue which is why I upgraded to the 770. I al...
