On the primary hard drive, I have a boot into XP Pro. I have Acronis on XP Pro and Partimage on Ubuntu. On both hard drives I have...

Drop the Turbo Memory. It doesn't fly with XP Pro and many folks say it works poorly with Vista.

Upgrade to the 9 cell battery. Cheaper when you get it with a new purchase at Lenovo. And, dramatic difference in battery time.

Nice selection.

Enjoy.

Do a google on your drive.

I found this... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=198120

which sounds very similar to your problem.

One test from the thread is to try a commercial DVD. Your DVD Drive may be sensitive to burned versus commercial DVDs.

Good luck.

If my memory is correct, I have been able to see the partitions three different ways:

...Use a Linux Live CD boot disk that reads windows files ... like Ubuntu.

I think only 2007 PCs were affected and hopefully Lenovo has tightened up their mobo manufacturing techniques. There are pretty good techniques (primarily proposed and developed by...

I put off upgrading to XP until SP2 came out, but after that, there was no reason to stick with 2k. I've also had more b...

With Acronis, you can place a hidden recovery partition on your hard drive which can be triggered at boot with F11 to re-image the hard drive with a recent XP hard drive image. But, you can not have both the original RnR of the Thinkpad and the Acronis. You have to...

Other advantages of Acronis: ...hard drive or MBR is messed up....image is separate. ...you can do Acronis on your hard drive if you wish and F11 recovers the recent image ...you can do Acronis on DVDs, etc But, the first advantage for all the putzing and fooling around with vmware or dual booting.....

The recommended one is the most recent TPFC. I actually tried a bunch of them and they all worked well.

Set your INF settings, though, from someone's recommendation in the threads.

Good work and resolution.

How long have you had the PC? Unusual to get a heat sink build-up in just a couple of months.

Anyway, it's nice to get a solution. I had read Chung's thread before.....so I will also be monitoring the temps and heat sink clogging in the future.

Enjoy your PC!
