Re: wher does the x100e stands compared to a x60s/x61s

I'd go for another x6x for sure! They say the x100e is an entry-level professional ultraportable laptop or whatever but to me it's just a glorified netbook with a trackpoint. IMO, a higher resolution isn't worth paying $$ to downgrade to a slower single-core that will give you approximately the same...

Thinkpad Black Map Wallpaper

I've seen pics of some new thinkpads with the black map wallpaper with a red IDL line. Does anyone know where I can get it? I don't want one that someone else made, i want the real one. Please help! Thanks

X60 Lenovo Software Problems

I am running Win XP Pro on my X60 notebook using the latest drives from Lenovo. I am noticing that the software does not work as flawlessly compared to my T41. When I press Fn+End to turn down the brightness all the way and then try to turn it back up, it lags for a few seconds. Also, after installi...

T30 Fan Error

I tried searching, but I came up with mostly irrelevant posts, except one that suggest it's a CMOS battery problem, but I have no way to check if the time is correct in my situation. When I turn on the computer, it shows the IBM logo then suddenly says "fan error" on the top left before shutting its...

thinkpad durability

I think it's just all a bunch of hype when people say they can stand on their thinkpads without damaging it. At least im pretty sure that would kill my T41. when I put force on the screen it squeeks a little bit and also flexes slightly although not as much as a toshiba and sony vaio that I've owned...

wow only 3.5? I read that the 6C will last 8-10 hours. do you do a lot of cpu-intensive stuff on battery?

I just did it today and it was really easy =) my ATI gpu is different from yours and it didn't have thermal grease on it and it didn't have the pink sticker either. The only thing between the GPU and the heatsink was the gray sticky pad. Anyways I think even for a regular T41 and even before AS5 bre...

I really want to do this mod but I have in the past ripped my CPU out of its locked socket and broke off some pins when I removed the heatsink from my desktop. So I am kind of scared about trying this. Is the heatsink just attached by screws and nothing else? Is the stock thermal pad glued onto the ...

FS: Three (3) sticks 200-pin 256MB PC2100 DDR 266 Memory

I have three (3) sticks of 256MB PC2100 memory for sale.

Two are Hynix brand, and the other is Samsung brand.
Two of them have IBM FRU numbers on them, one of the Hynix ones does not.

The ones with FRU's came out of an X31.

I am asking for $20 shipped.

ok I guess I will stick with the 1.25gb of RAM. Now that I think about it, I didn't notice that much of a difference in application startup speed except when a lot of processes were running, when I had to downgrade from 2x 512mb PC2700 to 2x 256mb PC2100 over the weekend. thanks for the quick replie...

If I rarely utilize 100% of 1gb of RAM anyways, do you think I should remove the 256MB module just to get slightly faster performance by having the PC2700 speed? What I'm after is faster loading of applications, and not so much having a lot of stuff open at once. Or will the difference not be notici...

Mixing PC2100 and PC2700 RAM

I have read that mixing RAM with different cas latency will result in all your ram having the lowest cas latency. Does the same thing apply to using different PC#### RAM? I have a 256mb PC2100 module along with a 1gb PC2700 module. Would I have a faster computer if I took out the PC2100 module?

Not only does the computer discharge them first, but the power switching circuit will not operate the computer on only the ultraslim battery. When I had my really old ultrabay batteries (over 900 cycles), I took out the main battery and stuck the ultrabay battery in to charge it. When it was fully ...

Yup. It also means the Ultrabay battery gets the majority of the wear associated with charging/discharging. Does anyone know if there is a way that makes it discharge the main battery before the ultrabay one? Like tell the program to make the ultrabay battery the second battery rather than the prim...

Ultrabay Batteries

I bought a refurbished ultrabay battery on ebay but I think they are just used. The Batter Maximiser says that it has almost 1000 cycles and about 3Wh. I have deep cycled it about 3 times and it does not last for more than 30 minutes. After recharging, the battery information never lists remaining c...

Re: New T41 on its way

There are some T4x line laptops with graphics chips problems. Some of them are solvable through more complex and daring reflowing the solder or simply sticking a folded piece of paper strategically located under the keyboard. No need to worry, if its going to happen its going to happen. Avoid devel...

LF: Basic laptop for DVD and Wi-Fi

Hi. I am looking for a basic laptop that can play DVDs and has built-in Wi-Fi. It needs to be able to run Windows XP without being unbearably slow. Preferably a ThinkPad w/ 14" screen with at least 2 hour battery life, but I will consider other laptops too. I don't want to spend more than $300 dolla...

Which ThinkPad best for DVD and Wi-Fi?

Does anyone know which laptop would be best for just watching DVD's and using wireless internet? Processor speed doesn't have to be super fast but I would like decent battery life (~1.5-2hrs) and at about a 14" screen. Also it needs to run Windows XP without being super-sluggish. It will be for my d...
