Well, since little Timmy is apparently watching and goodness forbid something naughty comes out, we will keep this a G rated site so no one falls off their morality wagon and has a coronary, or, god forbid aneurism (I wouldn’t want that to happen or be on my shoulders). And I also promise to be a go...

wow!! I can cook my eggs on that!? Well, being a laptop with a small fan, I would think it would be close to a desktops 34c with some stepping in there, but, it is still right where one would think it would be if it were a regular ol cpu on a teeny tiny heatsink. Still IBM and then should know 66c i...

Depends on what kind of pad it is. I personaly have not seen what they look like. There are a few different types out there depending on manufacturer. To be safe, I would scrape it off and just use thermal post. If you can take a decent picture of it and post a link to it, I can see what they look l...

Well, trying to keep my options open to grabbing a low priced T43. If I found a good cheap base, then all I need is a screen, right ? :) T43 (any?) base 15" XGA ATI video card, be it X300 or that other ATI whatever it is w128mb ram. Of course I would rather get it all together, but, with a working T...

1024x768 into a UXGA/SXGA

Somoene asked about trading screens in a T43 and never got a stright answer. Not exactly what frankenstien he wanted to make, but, for me, the question would be T43 (anything besides XGA) base and using a XGA screen on it. Would only be concered about the cable connecting to the motherboard as I wou...

They say not to use a pad with grease. I dont know why that would matter if it was a really thin smear, like whats on your finger, lol.

Cheap stuff is easy to get off. Arctic Silver is another story!

Wider or taller?

Okay, I cant find a good enough picture, be it single unit or side by side comparison, to tell if a 14" T43 laptop screen is wider or taller, with the unit open. Now, seeing as how there are 2 different laptop keyboards, or is that for the R52 only?, I would have to say it is wider. Every picture I ...

then why two of the same? If they want a stripped down version, why not just strip the T43 all the way? I know r52 for lower market bla bla bla.....but, same board???? Hmmm, okay, well, that is it then??? Guess its gonna come down to the simpler things making my decision, lol. Thanks for the update.

Hey, if thats what it takes to steer you in the IBM direction, then thats great. I think they look, like someone said, sexy, but, I will use sleek and classy instead. Thats all that did it for me! If they work, thats great. If they are stable as almighty heck, then thats a bonus. Guess for you, that...

Why not a faster hard drive or more memory if may ask. Those would likely yield a bigger performance increase unless you have a specific need. Well, my T40 does me just fine, but, like I said, I am gonna step up a notch to a 52 or 43 . One thing to consider is that PATA is about to go out the door ...

R52 or T43 ?

I had a T41 and liked it but want to move up a step. As of now, I have a T40 but thinking about the Core duo, even though its way outta my price rang. I dont use the laptop that much to justify the price, but, still want to get something a step above my present T40, as I will use that for the guests...

I think the flexing problem is simple, and, a simple solution. You just need to but some supporting rubber buttons under the middle of the laptop. Set your laptop on a table and press on the touch pad a little. You will see the flex if you look closely. Hard part would be finding a rubber foot/pad t...

Yes it does. Using the T41 as an example, Its screen font was a little too tiny for me. I was looking at all the XGA only screens, in the T's and R's 14/15 versions. I know there are Sxga and Uxga's out there. When I saw there is a XGA 15", I was thinking (as an example) would going from the 14" to ...

t43 15" screen too much/big?

I wonder about the 15" screens. Since they are 1024x768, that extra inch, is it a blessing or a curse? I liked my T41 14" but not sure about going 15". Sounds good on paper. Does the extra inch give a bigger font print or just more space to use the good ol t41 type font? Also, side by side, is it mu...

Is it me or does IBM offset the HD on OS installs?

I dont know, yet, if they offset the clusters, sectors FAT table or what, but, I had a T41 that I backed up with ghost. When I go to restore, my drives info comes up undetectable. I have tried more than one drive to no avail. I have to do a recover install to get back up and running???? SOmething, s...
