X120E dead system board & intl warranty woes

After 6 months my X120E died. I bought it in the US in April. The lead time from Lenovo was too long so I had to buy a pre-configured one and the only one I could get with short lead time was an E-240. The computer died while I was in the US, but was leaving for Japan within 2 days. I called Lenovo ...

Re: Genuine Lenovo Batteries vs. Generic Replacement?

I have a T61 purchased in March 2008 with standard battery pack. 42T4566. The original battery pack started to lose a lot of capacity within 6 months and I got a replacement under warranty in Nov 2008. (I had the standard one year warranty and was surprised that they replaced a consumable like a bat...

Lenovo.com Offer Expiring Jan 21?

Is the current discount on Lenovo.com for a T61 a typical discount or is it a one time thing. A T series is supposedly $300 off right now. I was thinking of getting one, but I wanted to diagnose my T40 first and think about it a bit more, and don't really have time to do the config right now. In oth...

That's interesting because M a t s u s h i t a (Panasonic) is the black sheep of the Japanese Li-ion industry with shrinking market share, losing money and constantly rumored to be exiting Li-ion business. (I consult on battery technology once in a while.)

Sanyo is the global market leader......

On my old T23 that reminds me what happened when the card started to fail. The machine would have the mouse issue that you describe. I resolved it by getting a new wireless MiniPCIs. I found a company that had them on closeout for $10 so I bought three. I went through one more before retiring the ma...

It is really hard to diagnose this sort of problem without a circuit diagram. I guess I would look for a blown capacitor near where the A/C jack is, which is very near where the traces go to get to the LCD connector. Thanks for the reply. Would this capacitor be on a "mini-board" for the A/C power?...

The spacebar right side became non responsive. Anyone knows how fix this?
I had this problem last summer. I popped off the space bar, cleaned things up and reassembled. I did it twice and now it's working fine.

Thanks for the reply but I don't agree with the analysis. A quick test of this theory is to turn up the CPU to max on battery -- it has no effect. Subsequently, I found that squeezing the case to the left of the mouse pad clears up the screen noise. p.s. I have two IBM OEM adapters and an IGO. In or...

Screen noise on LCD when connected to AC adapter

I have a T40p. Last weekend I started seeing streaks across the LCD screen only when it is plugged in to AC power. Symptoms: 1) Does not appear on external monitor. 2) Does not happen when on battery power. 3) Battery is in bad shape. (~2 hours on 9 cell battery.) 4) Observed in window that refreshe...
