Re: Need a 2nd laptop: Suggest a sister-machine to a T61p?

So what is the issue with this screen? Is it unreliable, dim, etc.? As ajkula66 pointed above, the Samsung panel is not so good, it's not very bright, and the viewing angles are poor. The LG ones are much better in my opinion. WSXGA+ are generally brighter. To avoid this kind of confusion I would s...

I will be posting details for these parts in a day or 2 on my website-page http://theboardroom.info/led_mod.htm Don't enjoy too early though! The last supplier was an absolutely rotten rip-off joint in Singapore, and they shipped absolutely rotten quality through their absolutely rotten Chinese man...

Re: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions

I have one LED Hydis displays here and want to put it in my Frankenpad now.
Can anybody give me a source where I can buy the required LCD Connectors (30pin LVDS and 14pin)?
I have been searching all in Hong Kong and Taiwan, but it seems quite difficult to find the right model.

I have some newly-modded cables for sale - pm me if you're interested. Thanks! Tom, I have one of your cables here and am having problems. The cable only works sporadically, most of the time the thinkpad would not boot or would shut down immediately. Now even the inverter LEDs do not light up. Is i...

So that's interesting. The external connector video goes to the PCI bus exclusive of the built-in video. Sigh. Why do I keep READING this stuff. I have a 12/2007 T61p that was my dream ThinkPad at the time. It's still ticking over but this forum has convinced me that it's doomed, DOOMED. Now when I...

nice thread. another option would be baking the motherboard in hope of fixing the issue somewhat. While I haven't had the need to do it on a laptop, I can surely suggest it as an option. I recently had to do it on a main board from HP Laserjet m2727nf printer with similar main chip problem ... and ...

With a steady hand you can DIY (ca. $20.- for parts incl. shipping), http://www.lcdparts.net/howto/troubleshooting/LaptopCCFL1.aspx or send it in to Moniserv: http://www.moniserv.com/lcdpartsnet/panelnet.htm Quite reasonable at $75.- EDIT: the above prices apply to CCFL, they do have LED-kits as we...

Keep them cool and they will run just fine. Use the T61p fan without the silicon pad, use arctic silver and you're set.
BTW: the FireGL has the 18°C temperature offset as well (for TPFanControl)

What is the difference between the inverter for XGA and the one for UXGA?
The LCD cable is the same and the mainboard connector, too.
The CCFL in the LCD are the same.
So I wonder, why two different inverters???

OK, folks.
I fixed the problem. The 15" LCDs only work with 15" LCD cables.
So, 14" and 15" cables are different, even if they both say SXGA. Did not know that.

All 15" T60/R60 LCDs work now in the T4x series just fine. :)

Re: CES2011: IPS LCDs for the T61, T400 available? (!)

Well, there are different quality grades in LCDs, even in the same production line. Apple usually buys grade A. I wouldn't go that far. They buy some good screens, but I wouldn't say "usually." I know this because I've disassembled a number of 2006-2010 MacBooks. Plenty of them have had low-end Chi...

Re: Upgraded 15" T60 to UXGA... nice!

Hi folks, after a long time I am back for a visit and have a few comments. Of course the new screens are much brighter than the older CCFL. First, the LED row has much denser light output than the CCFL. Second, a 16:12 LCD has a worse ratio of illuminating row vs. LCD area than a 16:10 or even 16:9....

Re: Are 14" and 15" T4x LCD cables compatible?

OK, I found some problems with the cables. Using a T41 SXGA 14" LCD Cable does not work with 15" SXGA Displays, neither from a T42p or from a T60. The T41 would not boot, just turns off after 2 seconds. Nothing gets damaged. After swapping with a default T41 LCD it works fine. The 15" and 14" LCD ca...

Well, there are different quality grades in LCDs, even in the same production line. Apple usually buys grade A. Cheapest discounters use the cheap leftovers.
