Re: Veriface software
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear in my post. My initial attempt at installing failed with an error that I wasn't using the right model (it actually was a more broad error message, saying that I wasn't even using a lenovo). Windows 7, in all its brilliance, recognized that something was up and asked if I ...

Veriface software
Has anyone been able to get the veriface software to work on a Windows 7 lenovo laptop, on which the software did not come preinstalled? I have an X61 running Windows 7 and successfully installed the veriface software. I enrolled my face and checked the box to skip the windows logon and go right to ...

Recommendations for optimal power settings to reduce whining
I assume at least some of you are aware of the high pitched whining problem that lenovo (and presumably other laptops) are plagued with. From what I understand, there are ways to "fix" it by tweaking the power settings (mainly via the processor state settings). All of a sudden my X200 has been makin...

Flickering screen when using Google Chat
I'm having a strange problem. It's one that I've had previously (1-2 years ago) on my Thinkpad, but a different model (X61 I believe) and different OS (Vista). This problem does not always occur, and I haven't been able to pick out a pattern that explains when it occurs. The problem (when it occurs)...

Okay. I installed the AMT drivers and that fixed the problem with the PCI Simple Communications Controller.

No. I ordered the downgraded version of the built-in media reader specifically because I did not want the modem. The port is covered.

PCI Serial Port & PCI Simple Communications Controller
I'm running Windows 7 Professional on an X200. The two items in the subject line are coming up in Device Manager as not having drivers installed for them. I thought I had installed all of the drivers from Lenovo's download. What am I missing?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Onscreen display of volume
Just installed Win 7 Pro. Everything is fine. Just can't seem to figure out why the on screen volume display isn't showing. I'm guess it's a driver I need to install? Or is there a setting somewhere? Thanks!

Jammed spacebar
All of a sudden, the spacebar on my keyboard is experiencing a slight case of jamming. Oddly, it seems that only the left half of the space bar is experiencing this issue. The left side feels "stuck," and unless I press down harder than usual when using the left half, it does not function. Any thoug...

Output from X200 to LCD TV
I have a Thinkpad X200 and am purchasing a VGA cable so that I can output video from the laptop to my LCD. I see that there are different types of VGA cables I can purchase (e.g., SVGA, XVGA, UVGA, etc.). Assuming my LCD TV can handle the highest output that my Thinkpad can provide, which cable shou...

x200 Drivers question
I have a few questions about drivers that I'm considering installing on my x200 with Windows 7. 1. I'm using an Intel X25M SSD 160GB HD. What are the Intel AMT 4.2 LMS&SOL and Intel AMT 4.2 MEI drivers? Should I install them? 2. Do I need to install the Fingerprint drivers? The fingerprint reader is...

Major problems installing Windows 7 on x200
I’m going a little crazy right now and hoping that someone can help me out. I just purchased a new Lenovo x200 laptop and an Intel 160GB X-25M SSD. I put the new hard drive in the laptop and booted from the Windows 7 DVD that I burned. Everything is fine until I get to the “Where do you want to inst...

Re: Suggestions for x200 sleeve case
Thanks all. I decided to go with the Waterfield. Didn't get any snazzy addons. Just the vertical version. I thought about the strap, but what good is the strap without being able to carry the power cord? And then I discovered the piggyback, but for $22 + $15, it doesn't make economic sense. My backp...

Suggestions for x200 sleeve case
I'm looking for suggestions on a good sleeve case for the x200 with 9cell battery (it sticks out a bit). I had a Shinza for my x61 and loved it. Doesn't look like they make an x200 model.
Thanks!

Clean install of Windows 7 RC on x200
I just got a new x200 with Vista Home and would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 RC. Looking for some tips before doing so. What's the best way to go about doing this? Re: X200 with Intel 160GB SSD v. Lenovo 128GB SSD v. 160GB 7200
Great. Thanks so much for the advice. I have an optical drive, but only CDRW, no DVD burner. Is this still doable? I don't mind if it means more blank CDs. Also, I realize that by not using the factory-installed HD, the HD I purchased won't be covered under Lenovo's warranty plan. Is that something ...

Re: X200 with Intel 160GB SSD v. Lenovo 128GB SSD v. 160GB 7200
How would I go about getting the OS and preinstalled drivers/software from the factory drive onto the SSD? Also, if I go this route, can you give a few recommendations for an SSD drive around 128GB? Is the Samsung the best bang for the buck? Will it just pop right into the slot or is there another p...

Re: X200 with Intel 160GB SSD v. Lenovo 128GB SSD v. 160GB 7200
Well, I guess I'd like to know the differences between the the SSD options. One is significantly more expensive than the other. What is so much better about the Intel drive than the lenovo (which I presume is Samsung)? Also, does it make more sense for me to get the crappiest drive offered and then ...

If i try to bring it out of sleep mode, it brings me to logon screen (normal) but i can't even get half my password in before it goes back to sleep. Th...
