Re: Happy to back on a Thinkpad (X230)

As Sir ZaZ has noted, screen resolution in the X230 may give you a feeling of wanting for more. Then again, given the huge pluses of owning an X230 (drastically lighter weight, much better portability, that IPS screen) I think you're better served by going the X230 route. Congratulations in advance ...

And I'm loving it even more after having installed an additional 4GB stick. While the hibernation takes a wee bit more time, I am not experiencing any system lag despite having many Chrome tabs and programs opened. :thumbs-UP:

Thanks sir for reading my story. :D

Re: Happy to back on a Thinkpad (X230)

Yep, a great trade indeed, Sir. :thumbs-UP: I never thought "double coincidence of wants" would remain applicable to this day. What I really like about the X230 is that I can lie down in bed and type comfortably on the machine, like what I'm doing right now. Doing the same thing on the MBP would hav...

Happy to back on a Thinkpad (X230)

Hi everyone! I would just like to share my experience to becoming a Thinkpad owner yet again, specifically a Thinkpad X230. About two years ago, I was looking to replace my trusty but near-failing T61, which was way past its third birthday. That machine was built like a tank; despite its heavy weigh...

Bumping this up once more...

I really need your help guys/gals on this...As much as I want to go to the service depot to have it repaired, I don't want to spend time haggling with them to accept my machine.

Thanks in advance. :D

T61 Battery Problem (Battery Not Installed reading)

Greetings everyone! I'd just like to ask for your help about my dilemma. I've been experiencing this from Power Manager and Windows' battery icon in the system tray, which reads "Battery Not Installed" whenever my T61 is plugged on AC/DC power. When I remove the plug, my machine still runs but still...

Had I have a sense of sobreity and clarion thinking in the first place and not based my decision on pure luck, I should've gotten a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB and ditched any plans to even think of purchasing a Seagate Momentus equivalent. I have been running my T61 for the past 8+ hours str...

Well, finally I have installed a brand new WD Scorpio Blue 320GB. I have run some HD Tune tests and my feelings are mixed. + It's is not as noisy as Seagate Momentus 7200.4 that I replaced. - But it is still louder than my sotck Fujitsu. + It is a bit faster than Fujitsu, although not as fast as so...

First, yes i don't think acoustic management can be set either, at least not by hdparm. My HDD hasn't clicked every since, but i remember that when i entered the same command, it said that the current power management was unknown, and would be voided by applying the 254 level. If this is true for o...

I've read a lot of irks and bugs when using the 7200.4 series with the T61/p ... i just don't get it. It works without any problems in T60/ps, whether capped to SATA I or not. I haven't heard of people having issues with SATA II on different notebooks that support it, so something regarding the imp...

If there are some problems with SATA II and T61, then it is clear, that bot all machines are affected. I used to run Momentus 7200.4 for a while and no problems at all. However, I removed the drive from my machine as the proformance gain was not as big to justify the noise. Now I am waiting for WD ...

My $0.02 on the first two: (1) Yes, T61 is limited to SATA-I speeds, 1.5Gbit/s which roughly equals to transfer of 150MB/s of raw data. I don't know what's the maximum throughput of your Seagate drive but it definitely does not exceed 100MB/s. So you see, the only type of drives you will hot the SA...

Fellow ThinkPadders, Just a random question: Can a T61 support a Seagate Momentus 500GB 5400.6 HDD? Art, I am also surprised with the new Seagate HDD's performance, especially with the clicking sound. After Upgrading HDD (Cloning), Loud Clicking Sounds

Hello fellow Thinkpadders! After reading many posts here regarding HDD upgrading and cloning, I decided to give it a try. I was thinking that maybe the TPs were hot like pancakes because of the old-generation parts that may not be "compatible" with running Windows 7.
