Possible to use x61 with the LCD screen removed?

So I have a x61 that I'd like to use with a external LCD exclusively. The included monitor doesn't offer much screen anyway (1024x768), and since I'd rather not get another keyboard, I was thinking about detaching the x61's LCD completely.

Anyone know if this idea will work?

Awesome, that means I can upgrade my brother's machine to 3GB! I guess www.crucial.com was relying on the same information Lenovo gave them. They also noted that the maximum amount of RAM for the X60s was 2GB.

From Lenovo's website on maximum memory for the following systems: X60, X60s PC2-5300 CL5 DDR2 SDRAM 200-pin non-parity SoDIMM 667MHz 2GB X61, X61s PC2-5300 CL5 DDR2 SDRAM 200-pin non-parity SoDIMM 667MHz 4GB (**) If the X60s does in fact support more than 2GB, upgrading to 3GB would be great. Is Le...

From everything I've read, the X60 supports up to 2 GB of RAM, with 1GB sticks in each slot.

X61 fit inside a Crumpler Salary Sacrifice laptop backpack?

Hey guys, I was thinking about getting a Crumpler Salary Sacrifice backpack for my X61 with the 8 cell extended battery. However, from my measurements and their inner sleeve dimensions, it seems to be an awfully tight fit. Either that or not at all; I'm measuring 4.0 cm at the back of my X61 and the...

Is there a difference in LCD brigtness between X60s and X61?

Hey guys, has anyone compared the LCD brightness between a X60s and a X61? My X61's LCD is noticeably brighter than my brother's X60s with both at full brightness. That is not to say the X60s is unusable, but the difference is enough to wonder if Lenovo changed the LCD in the X61 lineup. Neither lap...
