Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes

I'm having trouble with the mini displayport. It works for a few seconds, but then gets stuck in a continuous loop of connecting/disconnecting the display, causing both the laptop and external display to turn on and off as long as it's plugged in. I'm using a Dell 3007WFP-HC with dual-link DVI to m...

Re: X301 SU9400 1.4GHz vs SU9600 1.6GHz

Do you have just an SD card reader or a Micro SD card reader? I tried two 64gb Micro SD cards and it would not work - in fact the system just didn't boot. I now use two 32gb micro SD cards and I can access the memory, however it still stalls on boot about one in three times. I did consider getting ...

For all who want to use Core Duo or Core 2 Duo units for this, install one of these Broadcom MiniPCIe HD decoders, they are really cheap on eBay and make 1080p video playback perfect.

Re: X301 SU9400 1.4GHz vs SU9600 1.6GHz

Have you actually tried using 128gb in the Micro SD card reader? I found it didn't work and speaking to the seller of the reader the max it can read is 64gb (2 x 32gb). Actually, I just realized that I may know the root of the problem. The problem is that the disk (memory card) is too big for a sin...

I got this as well earlier this year to replace a couple of beefier, more heavyweight machines including a souped up Dell E6410, which is one of the best laptops I ever owned for it's price point. But coming back on point, I went a different route for storage and picked up a dual slot microsd card r...

Re: X200 laptop as a HTPC ?

I am not using an X200 but I have experience with a X61T that I think would apply. I lost the screen off the X61t to another unit so it does not even have a display - it is attached directly only to the TV. It works really well. Very very well. I use - a butchered X61t with an Ultrabase which makes ...

Re: how to watch HD movies on X31

You can try the Broadcom Hardware Decoder PCIe Mini Card decoder but I am not sure it will work with an X31. The X31 has a whitelist so you will have to hack the BIOS to be able to even try this ( see this thread ). They are cheap enough to buy one as an experiment on eBay - they can be had for unde...

Re: Lenovo X60 Tablet- Crystal HD Help?

Try a PCMCIA card rather than a miniUSB card - specifically a 3Com XJack a/g PCMCIA card.

I had an X61 and X60 tablet and found that this worked really well. The card slides into the laptop when not in use and the in/out slide action also turns it off.

They are really cheap on eBay right now.

You display refresh rate may have been wonky. Display refresh rate issues can cause the kind of severe nausea and the kind of sickness you are describing.

Any ideas what I can try? I don't really want two cards, but I don't want to use the 4985 -- it has issues in linux (such as no power management among other things). The newer card is more linux compatible. However, I can't remove the first card because the screws are stripped, and other means of r...

4) This is where it gets tricky. If you want to put your old HDD back into the drive bay to use as a second drive, then you must first get rid of it's boot attributes, Windows will not boot with 2 cloned drives that have the same attributes, you will get a BSOD the moment you plug your old drive ba...

My boss is convinced that merely setting the bios supervisor password should be enough to ensure that if the Intel 320 SSD is removed it will be unreadable. So I am suppose to figure out why this is not the case in our small fleet of new T420s equipped with said SSDs. As best I can discover it is n...

Best of luck with the sale.

Unfortunately, the unit is out of warranty as of the end of March.

It is a beautiful and rare unit indeed but with 4 laptops now, it is time to cull the herd.

Yes , you can and the software to do this should be free.

Take a look at
