Re: Lenovo Battery recall (T60/T61/R60/R61/X60/X61)

I knew there were recalls a few years ago ... but I got my machine in March 2008, and I didn't realize there was a recall since then. Thanks.

Lenovo Battery recall (T60/T61/R60/R61/X60/X61)

I came across this article in a Kim Kommando newsletter (8-22-09): http://www.komando.com/newsletter/NL_8-22-09.htm LENOVO RECALLS THINKPAD BATTERIES Lenovo has issued a battery recall. Fortunately, the batteries are not being recalled due to safety concerns. Rather, they are faulty and don't work c...

Re: lz32.dll error message

So far I haven't made any real progress fixing this problem. Even when I boot in safe mode and run as administrator, access is denied for replacing or renaming the lz32.dll. Venting alert: I did call Lenovo support and the guy was as helpful as he could be under the circumstances, since they don't s...

Re: lz32.dll error message

I've gotten rid of the trojan.bho. I think it's odd that none of my prevention programs were waving red flags: Spybot S&D with Tea Timer, CCleaner, Windows Defender, AVG Free, secunia. The original problem remains with lz32.dll. I can't replace it with the downloaded version (which has an older date...

Re: lz32.dll error message

Thanks so much for the replies. I ran scannow. The results said "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the cbs.log (which is 2000 pages long). I clueless about those log results. I ran Anti-Malware (multiple times) and the results...

lz32.dll error message

I'm attempting to install some new software I purchased on CD on my T61p running Vista Business and I'm getting the following error message: Setup.exe – bad image [title line of dialogue box] C:\windows\system32\LZ32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installin...

restoring bluetooth

I had a similar problem after my HD was replaced, and found a post that said to install the Thinkpad Power management driver. After I did that, bluetooth worked (Fn + F5).

T61p and the crucial memory scanner

Just for fun, I visited the crucial website to let it run the system scan. Here's a link to my results http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/viewscanbyid.aspx?id=166AE46A31D926C3&CPE=EMC-RAF I did buy the machine with 3 gb ram -- it says I have the maximum amount AND the slots are empty. What's up wi...

Hard drive replaced

Update/Good News: In late July I gave up trying to trouble-shoot why my computer kept locking up/hanging/crashing, and decided to call lenovo. Of course, when it was working, it would pass all the pc doctor tests. Fortunately, they were willing to try replacing the hard drive, and EUREKA! My compute...

What Vista DVD? I have a baggie with 6 "Product Recovery CDs", 1 "Rescue and Recovery CD", and 1 "Supplemental Product Recovery CD". Do I need to call and beg them for one? I didn't see that option when I was ordering. It's not locking up as often, but it's still happening at random times. I ran the...

Event logs

It just crashed again when I was composing an email in Outlook. I could tell it was going to lock up, so I tried to switch to task manager, and the screen went to black. Here's the event logs from yesterday and today ... what they mean is beyond me. I apologize in advance if it's inappropriate to po...

update

I've run CleanUp! a few times, and it's crashing much less frequently. I've also installed and run Spybot.

However ... CleanUp seems to also remove some Office 2007 configuration. Haven't figured that one out yet, but I'm really happy Vista has only locked up once today ... so far! 8)

Vista frequently locks up/hang on T61p

My T61p came about a week ago, with Vista Business, 160g hd, 3 gb ram. I'm looking for ideas to solve what seems to be a random crash/lock up/hang problem. The only way to get out of it is a hard power down and reboot with the power button. I haven't kept track of every crash, but here are some of t...
