Re: Need X30 XP Pro Recovery CD
Would the recovery CD's for an X31 work? I've got the full set and could burn them for you. I would just ask for shipping costs from Calgary, Alberta. I used them on mine and it installed everything, but I couldn't get it to create and install a new hidden partition with the backup. I'm sure there i...

Re: WTB: Hard Drive Caddy for T60
Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. I actually made a mistake. It's a T61 not a T60 and I believe it's a SATA drive.
Thanks
James

WTB: Hard Drive Caddy for T60
I'm looking for a HD caddy to fit on my 14' T60. I believe this caddy fits where the DVD drive sits.
If you have one, please let me know the price, including shipping to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Thanks
James

Re: X31 wireless help please
Look for a 2200bg and a set of R&R discs on Marketplace. This makes sure all the X31 particular drivers are included. I just got a message from a member who is going to send out the correct R&R disks for the X31. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that putting it back to factory specs will solve the is...

Re: X31 wireless help please
Can you take a look if your neighbor is using the same channel? Assuming you haven't done big download on Linux. Worst case is somebody brought up an 11n AP and use the 40Mhz bandwidth. Each channel is only 5.5Mhz separation. So an 11n 40Mhz bandwidth set at channel 6 can span from channel 3 to cha...

If it works on Linux, then it had to be software. Have you set the WiFi card power control to maximum performance? Yes, I do have it set to maximum performance. Re: X31 wireless help please
The install utility is in the intel WiFi package. After you expand it into the c:\driver\win\.. directory, it should be in one of the sub-directories. Read and follow the text file on the driver webpage for detailed installation instructions. Are you using mixed b+g? If so, what are the encryption ...

Re: X31 wireless help please
You can find these files at the Lenovo website support download area. A bit of navigating but you should be able to find them. I installed the Intel Chipset Utility and that didn't seem to help. I couldn't find the Intel Setup Utility anywhere in the Lenovo website. I'm about to give up on this thi...

Re: X31 wireless help please
After the fresh WinXP install, did you install the intel chipset inf files? Is this an intel WiFi card? If so, did you install the setup utility for intel cards? Hey there, The card is the Intel 2100 3B card (I verified this by running PC Wizard after the fresh XP install). After the fresh install,...

Did you figure out a solution to this problem? After a fresh Windows XP install (not using the R&R disks) my X31 with 21003b card is doing the same thing. It can't hold a connection for more than a few minutes and drops out if I'm downloading a large file. If you could please post your solution, tha...

I still can't seem to get this wireless going. I installed the latest driver from the Lenovo webiste. The wireless seems to be ok when I'm browsing the internet and only cuts out every 5 mins or so. If it is one of the intel versions, you need to run the install utility too. Which install utility do I need to run? Currently, when I run the device manager, it shows "Intel PRO/Wireless Lan 2100 3B mini PCI Adaptor". Do I need to download something from the Intel website? I just assumed the Think...

Can someone please assist me? Fresh X31 Windows Install.
Hi everyone, I'm donating my X31 to a single mother as she's taking some university night classes to further her education. A laptop that can run MS Office is required, and she can't afford to buy a new one. I've upgraded the ram to 1gig, battery gives 1.5 hrs and the HD is the stock 20 gig unit. It...

Re: Battery lasts longer with Ubuntu than Windows?
Thanks for the reply Soujourner. You were bang on......I turned off the critical warnings in Windows XP and let the battery run down, and I was able to get another 30 mins out of it once it had hit "0% remaining". There must be something wrong with one or two of the cells (since it's roughly chargin...

X31...how to make Rescue/Restore CD's?
I have an X31 and want to know if it's possible to make a set of resuce/restore cds? I wanted to do a full install of ubuntu, but wanted to be able to switch back to Windows XP in the future. If not, is there a way to do a full install of Ubuntu (not the dual boot) but still keep the hidden partitio...

X31 is running hot with Ubuntu 8.10. Fan not running.
I've read on various websites about the X31 fan not running with Ubuntu. Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to install the fan control software? I'm new to Linux so if someone has a link to step by step instructions that would be great. Also, is there a utility that can tell me how hot the...

Battery lasts longer with Ubuntu than Windows?
I found this quite interesting.... I bought a used X31 today for $100. When I load up Windows XP and check the battery health, it's "yellow" with 289 cycles. I did 4 cycles today and got about 45 mins from the battery before windows shut down on me. I then installed Ubuntu (dual boot) and ran the ba...

T61 is freezing in Firefox....any thoughts.
I'll list out in point form what's happening an the actions I've taken in an attempt to make this clear and concise: 1) I have a T61 and I've noticed that Firefox starts freezing when I start opening up 3 or 4 windows at once. I've never had a problem doing this in the past. 2) When it freezes, the ...

Question regarding Ultrabay HD Caddy for T61
Hello there, If I order the Lenovo Ultrabay HD Caddy Part#40Y8725 for my T61, do I need to order any other parts to make an off the shelf 2.5' HD fit inside the caddy? Does it require the drive to have any proprietary parts to make it fit properly? I recall reading that some drives were flopping aro...

Re: Booting from HD in ultrabay on T61?
Groovy. I ordered a caddy thing and a HD today! Do you have to order a specific Lenovo Hd to fit in the caddy, or can you pop any 2.5' drive in there and have it fit? I recall reading that some members found non-lenovo drives to flop around when they were in the caddy and had to tape them in. I wan...

Trade: X6 Tablet Ultrabase
I've got an Ultrabase that came with my X60 Tablet computer. The base was rarely used and is in mint shape. If you have a 160 gig HD...could you help me out please?
I've got a T61 with the 160 gig hd. I've never really payed much attention to "available" space etc. Today I installed Ubuntu and allocated it 15gigs. I didn't like the way it was working. so I just did a "Rescue and Recovery" and went back to a backup I had made this morning. The Rescue and Recover...
