Re: T42p needs the left metal hinge fixed.
Not yet... I haven't been able to part with my device for the time required to send it away. I'm still hoping to find a place in MA to bring it in for same day service. It doesn't seem like something that would take more than an hour to fix. I have the same problem, did u get it fixed?, how? thanks,...

Re: "Dull" spot on T42p screen - questions....?
Yes, I was slightly confused here when someone asked if the T42 in question was still within the 30 day period. Apart from creating confusion, I guess little or nothing of the information revealed here is valid today. Edit: Is your current T42 the same as the one in the first post? Still going stro...

Re: T42p needs the left metal hinge fixed.
Personally, I would look for a replacement part on eBay & do it yourself! I will only cost a fraction of an authorized IBM repair specialist & you get all that fun! Seriously they really are not hard to do, often the hardest part is tracking down the part but if you get the IBM hardware maintenance...

T42p needs the left metal hinge fixed.
Where can I get it fixed?
I live in New Hampshire, USA... and the Lenovo Website is very confusing regarding where I can find service partners.
My laptop is out of warranty.
Thanks!

This is the link I had book marked that I used to find my service center.
Peace!
Bill: Are you still selling new Thinkpads? Your website seems out of date??

Also , how do I locate an authorized service center? Nothing like breathing life into a thread that has been dormant for two years :D The IBM website has a list of service centers. Actually, when you go look at Thinkpads it brings you to Lenovo. It lets you search via zip code. Interesting, as I me...

When I remove my keypads the touch pad buttons are not part of that, you might try getting some quality canned air, like from a real electronics store because the cheaper brands usually coat your equipment with a white film, hold the can upright and try to hold the straw in the crack around the but...

easy? If you have warranty, use it, if you do not buy a replacement keyboard I don't want to say it's impossible to repair it using any available ThinkPad 'parts' keyboard off eBay- but I wouldn't say it's easy. You probabally won't find any instructions on how to do that available. Thank you for y...

T42 Touchpad button non as springy.... how to fix?
Hi all.
The left button on my touchpad is starting to become very very non-springy.
Probably from so much use.
Any easy way to fix this?
Thanks.

Thank you all very much for your replies! I just learned that the local IBM repair shop is 10 minutes from my house... which makes life much easier :) I can notice the spot clearly when there is a light background... and it drives me nuts. :P I got my TP back in November and have not had a single pr...

"Dull" spot on T42p screen - questions....?
Hi all.
On the screen of my 2373-P1U T42p screen I have a spot on the bottom in the middle that is "dull" and dimming. It is noticable and drives an obsessive guy like me crazy!
Does anyone else have this problem? Would my warranty cover this? How would it be fixed?
Thank you in advance.

Doom 3 is totally playable on the GVU, I have no complaints. It isn't like watching a movie, but its close enough for me. It really only bogs down when there are a lot of monsters on the screen at once, otherwise its quite smooth. Congrats on your new purchase! I bought my TP from bill also... Nove...

Unable to delete or move files.... T42p
I have been having a problem with my T42P 2373-P1U since I have obtained it... After downloading files I am not able to move or delete them. I get the standard file in use error. I am positive that no other program is using these files... because I close out of everything. Any ideas? Could the IBM's...

Re: hdd standby when on AC...
hi there, does anyone use HDD standby when on AC? If so, does it decrease performance i.e. does the fact that the hdd has to kick back in slow performance down at all? Reason i ask, is that im wondering if setting my hdd to shut down might help lower the temp of my t42 marginally, possibly enough t...

Multiburner Problem - Type of DVDs?
Hi all. I am the proud owner of a 2373-P1U... and with it, the oh-not-so-fast DVD Multiburner. I just decided to start backing up some of my data onto DVD's so I went out and bought a few... I also installed Nero onto my TP for the burning purposes. Now, the type of DVD's I bought are Fujifilm DVD +...
