Re: T420 eSata?
Do you remember if, when you plugged your drive into your wife's Toshiba, did Windows pop up a little bubble from the taskbar to the effect that it was installing a driver for the enclosure? Possibly. I can't be sure. It is a moot point now as I have decided not to connect that drive to my ThinkPad.

Re: T420 eSata?
I am having a similar problem to the OP. ThinkPad T420 running Windows 7 trying to connect to a OWC Mercury Elite Pro enclosure. The enclosure supplies power and also has a USB 2.0 interface which works with the T420. The eSATA interface works fine with my wife's Toshiba but doesn't show up in Disk ...

Re: Windows 7 64-bit drivers for T61
OK, reboot did not fix the iPod issue. For some reason it is still asking for "Bluetooth Peripheral Device". It pairs just fine but fails installing the device driver for "Bluetooth Peripheral Device".

Re: Windows 7 64-bit drivers for T61
OK, I ended up installing this: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-70042
It says it is for Vista but it appears to be working fine. My BlueAnt headset works now, but not the iPod (but I may need a reboot for that).

Re: Windows 7 64-bit drivers for T61
Thanks. If you have your SWTools folder you can let device manager look there for the driver. I got it to look there but the driver wasn't found. Is your Bluetooth turned on? It won't see if it's not turned on. Fn + F5. D'oh. I have turned it on now  and I can now connect to my Nokia Phone. I ...

Windows 7 64-bit drivers for T61
I have a T61 (7659-AB8) on which I have installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and I'm having trouble getting some drivers. I have installed Lenovo System Update and it installed 11 drivers, including Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox. This reports (and by the way Windows was also reporting the same thin...

OK... First off I blew away the new driver and ATI software. Nothing I could do would let me have the calibrated profile. Once reverting everything was back to normal. Second, my L220x arrived last night. WOW! It really is impressive. After installing the monitor driver on my T43, it worked fine (ev...

Video driver upgrade kills calibration
G'day, I have a T43 (2668-44M) running Windows XP SP2. I have an IBM P96 monitor. I was running the following drivers: http://andrewtrevor-jones.com/ATIDriver.jpg I have been using a GretagMacbeth eye-one display 2 for calibration and it has been working well for over a year. When I boot the ThinkPa...

One very annoying thing is it appears that the latest driver does seem to honour the colour profile generated by my GretagMacbeth eye-one display 2. My screen colour is woeful and very bright (not a L220x problem). It is ATI Catalyst Control Center that is doing this. When I boot the ThinkPad it fi...

your T43 should be able to output the full 1920x1200 over VGA (assuming you're using VGA, of course). It's not listed in the support modes. just make sure your video driver is up to date. Ah... my video driver was very old: 30 November 2004 6.14.10.6497. I have just installed the latest driver avai...

I've read Erik's massive thread as I have a L220x on the way (bought by my work ;) ). There was mixed information in the thread, but if I read it correctly, I can run the L220x on my ThinkPad T43 at its maximum resolution of 1600x1200 and set it up so it won't stretch the image. Is that correct? I a...

I'm kind of sorry for posting what I thought my be useful information for anyone that might have set a HDD password and have it not work from them form the get go. It might have been the BIOS setup not accepting numbers at the time you set the password.

They are PATA drives (WD2500BEVE) and they work fine in the UltraBay. I'm talking specifically about the "IBM Portable 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive" enclosure. I know other USB 2.0 enclosure support larger drives. After doing some testing it does appear that the interface in the enclosure only supports u...

IBM Portable 40GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive - limitations?
I have a subject drive (well, 2 actually) and I have successfully replaced the drives with 100GB and 120GB drives and I regularly swap them around. I have just received two 250GB drives but am having weird problems with them when they are in the USB 2.0 drive case. Is there a limit to the size of th...

Re: one convenient reason to use a power-on password
Okay, some may complain that it doesn't "secure" your system, but anyone who's worked with trusted systems will tell you (not in so many words), "the only secure system is a machine turned-off, unplugged, wrapped in a sealed plastic bag, with a signed evidence sticker on the bag closure." The idea ...

If you are going to use the hard drive in a different machine, remove the password first. Not necessarily true. The password goes with the HDD not the machine. You can certainly use a password protected HDD in multiple Thinkpads. I do it all the time. It may be possible to use it in other brands bu...

Is there any reason why setting up two notebooks and two HDD's all with the same PW's, so all are interchangable, will *not* work? Should I be able to make a setup like this work? Works for me. As above, I have 2 T43 Thinkpads which have the same passwords and I can use the drives in either machine.

Just to clarify, the problem of the number not working only happened in BIOS Setup. It has never, ever happened on power up on any Thinkpad I have used in the last 12 years. In the BIOS setup, I have only had it happen twice (that I can remember) but it did happen on 2 different machines. For one th...

wauiwa, I'm not sure how you got on with your HDD password problem, but you might want to try typing the password you thought you added but leave out the numbers. I had an experience similar to yours where a set password wouldn't work. It turned out that at the time I typed in the password to set it...

A HDD password experience which might be of value
G'day. I use a power-on and HDD password for my Thinkpads and have done since my very first Thinkpad, a 760CD in 1996. I have used the exact same password for all this time. The password has a number in it. Because I have used it for some time, I can type it without thinking. Last year, just before ...

WD2500BEVE in Ultrabay
G'day,
Is there any reason a WD 250GB drive (WD2500BEVE) won't work in the ultrabay of a T43 2668-44M using a genuine 2nd HDD adapter (FRU P/N62P4553)?
I'm thinking of getting a couple the drives for backup purposes and just want to make sure they will work.
