WIFI card disables - Power mgmt??
It seems that running XP Pro for 8 hours or so, the WIFI card is disabled and doesn't turn back on on the X61T. The same occurs in FreeBSD 7.0 after a number of hours of use and you cannot get it back on. Even by unloading and reloading the module, ifconfig down, ifconfig up, dmesg output says that ...

Installed Fingerprint software on XP - now WONT logon!
By trying to get rid of the unknown hardware in device manager, I decided to install the fingerprint drivers. I rebooted the machine and now it says "Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to logon" with the fingerprint icons and lenovo branding. However I can't hit ctrl-alt-del to logon. I always use the NT4 style log...

NVCACHE partition? Do I have the Turbo Memory option?
I noticed in my Vista Disk Manager that I have a 2nd disk that is FAT32, 512MB in size and it's volume label is NVCACHE. Is this the Intel Turbo memory module? If so, does it offer any benefit or should I disable it?

[censored]. I got Vista 32-bit Business with this X61T. I definitely prefer XP - I take that back, I prefer win2k more than anything. I'm fiddling around with this Vista install and trying to squeeze everything I can out of it. I got rid of everything Vista-esque, it now pretty much looks like XP. I...

Good tablet applications?
Still playing around with this X61T, I have never used a tablet PC before. Just wondering what good tablet apps are out there. If I want to brainstorm on a plane or train, what app would be good to jot down notes, diagrams, etc.. and easily save them? Is there a specific format file for this or shou...

Clean install of Vista from Recovery Partition?
Hello, I just received my X61T and I would like to install Vista cleanly - without any Lenovo 3rd party apps or drivers. The best I could find in the recovery was a custom install where I de-selected things like Acrobat Reader, etc.. I tried it but there is still A LOT of post-Vista installation cra...

Upgrade to Vista Business 64-bit?
I just bought an X61T and installed 4GB of ram, the laptop shipped with 32-bit Vista Business and I'm wondering if my CD-key will work with 64-bit Vista. I believe my company has some 64-bit Vista's OEM or Retail, not sure. Can I upgrade? Vista is bad enough and I don't really want to purchase a new...

Opening Lid sets video to VGA
My X41's resolution in Windows XP is 1024x768 however when I close the lid and open it it switches to 640x480. It's quite annoying as it sometimes doesn't switch back to 1024x768. What is doing this and how can i disable it?

thanks for your reply. I'll try that out. Kinda sucks I have to keep that partition at bay. Actually, I ordered the 160GB drive so 4-5GB won't matter too much. I just realized that I ordered 4GB ram for the system (will be running FreeBSD amd64) and I bet the XP Tablet edition that comes with it isn...

Move T43 LCD panel to T42?
Both are SXGA+ 14.1" screens, my T43 died (is completely foobar) but the dispay is good and my T42 the backlight seemed to have died, so I hope to move the display from the T43 over to the T42 and toss the remains of the T43. Are they the same? Can I move just the panel or even the whole top half of...

X61T come with XP CD? Can you install OEM XP from Recovery?
usually the first thing I do when a new Thinkpad arrives is disable the recovery partition to free up the space and reinstall Windows XP they way I want it without the gunk and junk, then proceed with FreeBSD for dual-boot. Since my laptop comes with XP Tablet edition, for which I don't even have th...

Hi J-dawg, Sure the x200 sounds good, but the I'm sure it will cost a lot due to it probably having a SSD. IMO the perfect laptop is the X61T because of 12.1" @ SXGA+ res. 1280x800 is fine, but 1440x1050 is much better, also considering most 4:3 LCD monitors do that as well, together having dual-hea...

Bevel problem status on newly shipped X61Ts?
Anyone here order an X61T after Nov/Dec 2007 and are having the bevel separation problem? It seems that Lenovo claims it's a glue problem, I would have thought just using some Krazy glue would have fixed it for good even it would void the warranty (who the hell opens up that bezel anyway). Since I m...

SXGA+ 12.1" ---> X61T only way to go? X62, X62s w/
Hi all, this is my first post. A bit of history about me: I started with IBM with the A21m machine (PIII-800MHz) and haven't even touched another laptop since. I currently have a T43p(SXGA+), T42p(UXGA), another T43(SXGA+) spare and a very proud owner of the X41 (I like the form factor). I travel a ...
