Re: ThinkPad L540 Touchpad and Trackpoint suddenly stop workin
I also have an L540. An interesting find on Lenovo's forum from someone with the same issue: Problem traced to the touchpad ribbon cable - several tracks were found to be open. Confirmed by swapping out cable from my T440s. As an interesting sidenote, the trackpoint will not work if the touchpad is ...

Re: T430s internall battery connector
I still have a 430s, and years ago had this very issue. Are there any clues coming from the battery charging LED? Flashing, different color, etc.? (While plugged in with battery attached.) In my case, it turned out to be one dead/defective cell in the array of them inside the battery pack. This kept...

Must agree with the experts above. When I had the quick orange blink shortly after getting my original T400, it turned out to be a defective cell in the battery.

Forced to by circumstances, I've fallen back to using my old T30 (recent seperate thunderstorms fried both my T400 AND T42). And this indeed has Vista on it, so it can be done, but I don't recommend it. I got it years ago when I was still doing tech support and thought a cheap TP with Vista would be...

It may have started, but to be safe I'd run some complete diagnostics and make sure it's seeing all your RAM and so on. Again, just to be on the safe side.

I think GACrabill has a valid point worth checking into first.
I had similar problems that a powered hub cured in one case and that "two-pronged" USB connector fixed in another.

From the various systems I cleaned up, these fake trojan alerts are getting through on systems running older versions of Java. I've dealt with differing versions of this thing three times. The first time was my own T42. I'm late to this party, but I wanted to point out that only 27 feedbacks is, in my opinion, a very small number.
Of course, while it may be a possible red flag, it can also be an indicator of someone new to the game who is more likely to make a "rookie mistake."

AusMike, are you saying that machine is bricked?
PoshG, I had something similar happen after a power surge/blackout, and the old "take everything out and start holding down the power button" etc. etc. routine that I'm sure you know got it back up.
