Re: Looking for info on the Thinkpad 240Z
the 240 was a dandy little thinkpad..
i have one in my archives of old thinkpads..
great keyboard..
never found an affordable 240Z to play with though i did look for one..
AND, surprise for myself, there on top of the 240 was a pristine PCMCIA cover for a thinkpad 701C..! very rare..

hello and welcome to the forum.. i looked at the ebay link and the 2nd HDD adapter sure LOOKS right but since there is no label it is hard to say what exactly it is.. or who made it.. my suggestion is to send it back and find a used one here on the forum in the marketplace.. or ebay if it is an OEM ...

hello and welcome to the forum.. just guessing here (my X1 carbon gen3 is the newest thinkpad i have) but sleep mode should not cause any issue.. did the battery go flat..? did your thinkpad suffer any other trauma during your 'move'..? otherwise, a new keyboard is not expensive.. even in romania i ...

hello david..
heh, an interesting issue..
did you say which thinkpad we are talking about..?
and if it IS a lenovo branded battery then it has a lenovo warranty and you should have no problem calling lenovo and initiating some sort of warranty claim..

hello and welcome to the forum..
this issue SOUNDS LIKE the same issue i have/had with one of two T61p WUXGA thinkpads..
i don't recall the exact issue but you might need a new system board..
don't go buying one on just my word, wait for a few more opinions..

ok, memory appears to be OK..
floppy appears to be OK..
perhaps it wants to update from the existing bios rev level to the NEXT and not jump several rev levels..?
thats the next possible issue..

is there some other compelling reason..?

2.5" SCSI HDDs should have the same pin header / it's what they plug into with special caddies that makes them unique. i still have a few of those 750/755 series caddys and they are NOT the same as those for the SCSI drives in the power PC 850 series.. SCSI drives have had a wider header on the dri...

about 15 years ago i used a mini-dock on a T40 series thinkpad and connected two displays.. one to the dock and one to the thinkpad.. they both worked and if my memory is correct each could show a different window.. someplace in a few TB of disk i have a picture.. not sure how i would find it though...
