Re: Looking for info on the Thinkpad 240Z

the 240 was a dandy little thinkpad..
i have one in my archives of old thinkpads..
great keyboard..
never found an affordable 240Z to play with though i did look for one..

AND, surprise for myself, there on top of the 240 was a pristine PCMCIA cover for a thinkpad 701C..! very rare.. :)

hello and welcome to the forum.. i looked at the ebay link and the 2nd HDD adapter sure LOOKS right but since there is no label it is hard to say what exactly it is.. or who made it.. my suggestion is to send it back and find a used one here on the forum in the marketplace.. or ebay if it is an OEM ...

hello and welcome to the forum.. just guessing here (my X1 carbon gen3 is the newest thinkpad i have) but sleep mode should not cause any issue.. did the battery go flat..? did your thinkpad suffer any other trauma during your 'move'..? otherwise, a new keyboard is not expensive.. even in romania i ...

box and battery all look legit.. is there a toll free lenovo number for spain..? if amazon sold it, amazon will take it back, i believe.. it also should be under lenovo warranty.. 1 or 3 years.. i think.. for USA: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/ just go to lenovo.com and look for a support tab or ...

hello and welcome to the forum.. :) you must be VERY CAREFUL when buying a thinkpad (and maybe any other laptop brand battery) from amazon.. there are many choices and most ALL of them LOOK like the OEM thinkpad battery but they are not.. you need to read the amazon sellers info VERY carefully.. if ...

i don't recall the exact issue but you might need a new system board..
don't go buying one on just my word, wait for a few more opinions..

ok, memory appears to be OK..

perhaps it wants to update from the existing bios rev level to the NEXT and not jump several rev levels..?
thats the next possible issue..

that 390X is a seriously old model of thinkpad.. and adding more memory IS a compelling reason to update the BIOS.. i have not tried updating the BIOS on any of my antique thinkpads.. forum member hwattys and a few others might be able to add something here BUT the last few times i updated a BIOS wa...

2.5" SCSI HDDs should have the same pin header / it's what they plug into with special caddies that makes them unique. i still have a few of those 750/755 series caddys and they are NOT the same as those for the SCSI drives in the power PC 850 series.. SCSI drives have had a wider header on the dri...
