Re: Thinkstation E31: SAS Capability?

Do you realize this is a baby workstation wannabe? No ECC, first x16 slot blocking x1 slot below it. Motherboard is socket 1155 means 16 lanes regardless. And 2 more legacy PCI that is not wanted. Motherboard does not support any SAS drives without controller. Problem is most of SAS HBA cards are u...

Thinkstation E31: SAS Capability?

I've got a 'new' (well, lightly used) Thinkstation E31 coming to replace my failing Intellistation (new machine type 2551). It is my understanding that the Thinkstations can support SAS drives with the correct BIOS/Option EPROM...? I've not found any consistent answer for this particular model as ye...

T500 'Rainbow' logo?

Good eve, I've been away far too long... I think my last post here was about eight or so years back! Anyway, just got hold of a very clean T500/4G/160GB/with camera and fingerprint reader. I think the thing must have been a retired off-lease because it looks like it has barely been touched. Did anyo...

Re: Need part number, drive tray

Neither one, at least from what I can tell from the photographs. The tray I currently have, though broken, is one-piece, U-shaped, and has four little rubber grommets fix-mounted in its sides, with studs poking out of said grommets to engage the holes in the drive. It is SOMEWHAT similar in appearan...

Need part number, drive tray

For Intellistation M Pro: I could really use the part number for the blue plastic U-shaped hard drive sled, the one with the built-in studs that just snaps around the drive. I've been through every HMM I have for the M Pro series, and I can't find any reference to it.

Anyone?

Thanks much.

Re: Intellistation Z Pro Rack Kit

The 'why' is easy. I have a small 3-foot high rack under my desk. It holds my current system (custom-built AMD, 4U rack case), a UPS, and a KVM switch. The Intellistation would make a nice fit.

Thanks much. I'll poke around for the kit some more.

FS: Complete Camera Mod Kit for T61 or T61P: $65

This mod has been extensively discussed in the T61 section of the forum in this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=62895 Unfortunately, it is compatible ONLY with the 14.1" widescreen display, which I don't have (and I didn't realize this until it was too late). I screwed up and ordered these parts for my standard screen T61 before I discovered it wasn't compatible (in the physical rather than the electrical sense) with the webcam upgrade. My loss, your gain! All parts are brand new, fresh from IBM. The static bag containing the camera was opened for initia...

Re: Upgrade T61 to integrated camera model?

Arrrghhhh.... No, it's not talk-like-a-pirate day. I just discovered, much to my disgust, that (apparently) only the widescreen models of the 14.1-inch display T61's can accept the camera mod. If anyone knows differently, please say so! So -- Before I start negotiating with Spare Parts Warehouse for...

Fellow IBM fanciers, I have learned there is a tower-to-rack conversion kit for the Intellistation Z Pro series, IBM part 13N2455. Far from the only one. I like 'em too! They're Just Plain Well Built. No sharp edges on the innards, good quality sheet metal, excellent RFI suppression (when they're closed, of course), terrific airflow for cooling, etc.

My Z-Pro is going to be here next Tuesday... champing at the bit, as it were...

Soon as I get said parts, and a couple of spare hours, I'm giving the mod a shot. I will post my results.

Look to your 'Hotkeys Manager'

The onscreen volume display, if it's handled the same as in my T61, is supported by the Hotkeys Management package. You probably killed its service in your efforts to speed bootup.

Regrettably, I don't know which service it is. You may need to reinstall the option.

Happy tweaking.
