Re: System Restore problem

Thank you for the Hitachi link for Drive Fitness Test.

However, after reading the user's guide, it states that it supports all versions of Windows up to XP. Do you know if it makes a differnece with Vista?

Thanks again for any information you can provide.

Re: System Restore problem

Still haven't been able to run chkdsk. Yesterday I tried this: Yhttp://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/130824-chkdsk-will-not-run-startup-vista.htm in Safe Mode. When the computer rebooted in safe mode, a blank windows help and support window popped open blank and the computer did nothing else. So then I...
If that’s what happens it isn’t checking the disk. The disk check happens before you log in. Click “Help”, search for “check your hard disk for errors” and follow the instructions to check the disk.
Thank you. I will try this also.

Re: System Restore problem

Just curios, why'd you do a system restore in the first place? If you have a HD issue, a system restore probably won't help. Did you try running HD Tune? I was trying to do a system restore because I had lost my network settings. I have since fixed that problem. I can't figure out why Windows syste...

On my LENOVO 3000 N100 laptop running Vista Home Premium SP1 , I tried to do a system restore a few days ago and got the following error message: The disk SW_Preload (C:) has errors. Windows has detected file system corruption on C:. You must check the disk for errors before it can be restored. Clic...

Re: How long does it take

Ok, it's been going for 12 hours now. The progress bar is STILL at 0%. There is hardly any HDD activity going on. I haven't made many changes other than some system updates and loaded some pics. Other than that, this laptop is used primarily for surfing and email and online shopping. I will let it s...

Well, gee, that's a given. You don't have to be so snarky about it. I simply made a suggestion after some frustrations and observations. And as an ADMIN, I am surprised at the tone of your post. However, this web-site also supports Lenovo products, which also use many of the same applications as Thi...

How long does it take

for Rescue & Recovery to make a back-up of the system?

I started it over 5 hours ago, and it is still at 0%. For some reason, I cannot cancel the operation, and I cannot close it using the red X.

I noticed today that it hadn't made a backup since Dec. and that's why I started it.

Re: General Software forum

I appreciate your quick answer.

It's just that I have noticed that a lot of people post in the Lenovo sub-forum and half of those posts go un-noticed / un-answered.

I happened to find that forum today while looking for answers about R & R problem I am having.

Did I miss it somehow? I just found the one today in the ThinkPads series forum, but I am using a Lenovo branded laptop.

Does that make a difference?

Thanks for any insight you can give me.

General Software forum

I know that there is one under the ThinkPad forums, but why not have one for all IBM/Lenovo software in general? I think that may help people with issues that tend to go un-answered under specific hardware series. After all, doesn't a lot of the software work the same across the different lines? I.E...

Re: Access Connections - some tips on how to use it

GomJabbar,
Thank you so very much for posting those links.

After going thru all the hoops, I finally got it all installed.

I'm not sure if it's all working properly, but I got the updates installed in their proper order.

Thanks once again.

Re: Access Connections - some tips on how to use it

My experience indicates you should always uninstall Access Connections and reboot before upgrading the wireless driver software. Try to think of it as a layer cake. Install and remove layers in order. To the best of my knowledge, install in the following order, and uninstall in reverse order: 1) Le...

Call Lenovo and get a full set of recovery discs. This should be free under warranty if the recovery partition does not work. Even if you used a DVD, a full recovery set would still be one CD and one DVD. I'd also run a diagnostic on your hard drive from the manufacturer. In fact I'd try that first...
