Re: thermal sensing error when upgrading CPU
I've run an Intel X9000 Extreme CPU in both my previous R61e and current T61p. In neither the CPU has got hot enough for the laptop to need to shut down, it would seem that the factory Lenovo cooling system is capable of handling this CPU. Now in both machines I got the thermal sensing error. Howeve...

Re: T61p won't turn on - blinking AC Power, orange Battery and U
Spoke to Lenovo this morning and they've got no idea, suspect the system board is faulty, but they can't confirm until they receive it. So it's going back under warranty (very glad to have gotten the 3 year extended warranty now).

Re: T61p won't turn on - blinking AC Power, orange Battery and U
Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 2.80GHz Mobile Processor Is this an upgrade that you did yourself? Do you have the original CPU? I'd try the original if you have it. I'd also try a different AC adapter based on your description of the symptoms. The original CPU is in my R61e. The X9000 has been in and r...

T61p won't turn on - blinking AC Power, orange Battery and U
My T61p won't boot up. It's just sitting there with the AC Power light, orange Battery light (The battery light looks like it is being illuminated by both the green and orange LED at the same time) and Ultra Slim status light illuminated and they are blinking (so quickly turning off and then on - on...

T61p - fitting Wireless USB Adapter into spare slot
So while installing my 1GB Intel Turbo Memory Module I noticed that I have another spare slot: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/5228/p8030354.jpg A little flick through the Hardware Maintenance Manual indicates that this slot is for Wireless USB Adapter. From what I can see the FRU numbers that I ...

Re: T61p - installing Intel Turbo Memory 1GB into
Something to play with. If I can get it to run right it should work well, but I have read about the issues some people have had with them.istudio wrote:Are there any reasons why you want to install Turbo Memory?

T61p - installing Intel Turbo Memory 1GB into
I have a T61p 6459-A12. I want to install the Intel 1GB Turbo Memory into it. Is anyone able to assist me in determining where this module fits into the system, so that I can confirm whether or not I will have to remove any other component already installed in order to install the Intel 1GB Turbo Me...

Re: SSD HDD from R61e doesn't work in T61p
Success! I went into the BIOS and restored the factory defaults. I then went and changed the SATA mode to Compatability. I then fitted the OCZ SSD and nothing. So I pulled my Gigabyte T1028 apart and removed the SSD from that which was the Silicone-whatever brand one and that has booted up fine! Loo...

Re: SSD HDD from R61e doesn't work in T61p
There is absolutely no reason why the SSDs shouldn't work in a T61p. Can you describe how you find out that they're not recognized in the T61p? It may be an issue with the drives not initialized and thus can't be detected. If I put the original HDD back in, and then go into the BIOS and into the Bo...

Re: SSD HDD from R61e doesn't work in T61p
The one from the R61e is a OCZ Technology Core Series v2 SATAII 2.5" Sold State Drive and the other is a Silicone Power SSD 2.5" SATA Solid State Disk 64GB.

SSD HDD from R61e doesn't work in T61p
I've removed the HDD from my R61e and put it into my T61p, the computer doesn't recognise it at all. Tried another SSD HDD from another laptop of mine and same deal. Any ideas why the T61p doesn't seem to be able to run SSD HDD?

No sound output - Lenovo R61e ThinkPad
I've got no sound output from the Lenovo R61e. It used to beep on start up because of a thermal sensing error (due to the Intel Extreme CPU I'm running in it), and the speakers used to work fine in Windows, but yesterday, it decided to stop making any noises! I've uninstalled the sound drivers, no d...

Would it be rude to ask why you bought a $400 mother of all CPUs to run a browser and Word? (Which hard drive do you have?) No, it wouldn't be rude - it's a very sensible question, more sensible than my decision to buy the CPU I guess. I bought it because I can, I had the money spare (which was a n...

Just installed it. And my main response is WOW! Previously I have upgraded the HDD to a faster Seagate model with larger cache and higher rpm, upgraded the RAM from 1GB to 3GB, and a larger battery. But the difference from the Celeron M 540 to this X9000 is extreme!!! Previously the laptop would hav...

Intel X9000 Extreme CPU in Lenovo R61e Thinkpad
Anyone know if the Intel X9000 Extreme CPU will run in a Lenovo R61e 7650-83M Thinkpad? I have updated to the latest BIOS already, and it has the Intel GM965 chipset.

I need a new charger for my rR61e ThinkPad after the old one has burnt out for some reason. I can't find a listing on the Lenovo website for a charger for my model. Just wondering if they're all the same?

This morning my power charger blew up

Seem...

Just a bit of an update, I stole some RAM out of my Toshiba Tecra M4. It uses DDR2, but only PC-4300 or 533MHz (slower). The module in it was a 1GB Samsung, m470t2953by3-cd5. Had this Toshiba Samsung module in slot 1, and the Corsair in slot 0 and BSOD - pfn list corrupt message. Swaped them around ...
