Re: Reinstall Vodafone mobile connect version 5. How?

BTDT - when I upgraded my T61p to Win 7 Ultimate x64 I did a clean install and wiped the original Vodafone Mobile Connect - you can find old versions on the web but I downloaded the latest Vodafone Mobile Broadband Version from Vodafone UK and it works ok.

Re: Hinge Issues

I had two T61p both model 6457-BQG. The one I gave to my son (an August 2008 build) developed the Nvidia problem and the loose LCD hinges with play in them . It recently went away to be repaired and Lenovo replaced the hinge assembly to cure the loose LCD lid as well as replaceing the main system bo...

Re: Panasonic vs. Sanyo batteries

I ordered them from IBM UK parts - you can check the parts situation on-line on their parts system. The T61p 9 cell is listed with the suffix PNS which means made by Panasonic but the T42p one is just listed as normal without the PNS suffix. I guess this means Sanyo :( . Interestingly, the Sanyon ba...

Re: Panasonic vs. Sanyo batteries

Well the batteries from IBM finally arrived - the T61p battery is a Panasonic battery 92P1134 (42T4620 ) :D and the battery for the T42p is a Sanyo 42T4608 :( . Prices were significantly cheaper than from Lenovo.

Re: Panasonic vs. Sanyo batteries

The FRU for the T61p 9 cell Panasonic battery is 92P1133 which shows up as available on the IBM web parts system on 4 week delivery. It does not give the manufacture date but would obviously be covered by the 12 month IBM warranty. The FRU for the T42P one is more difficult to determine as the HW Ma...

Re: Panasonic vs. Sanyo batteries

Assuming you can find one. There is no guarantee Lenovo will continue to buy old batteries from Panasonic (try sourcing a new T4x Panasonic battery now, for example). I am just going through this whole process - as my signature line shows I have quite a few Thinkpads in use. In addition I recently ...

Warranty service in UK

I have a T61p (July 2008 build) which is exhibiting the Nvidia FX570M problems in that it fails to display when used for extended periods. In the past when repairing broken Thinkpads, one could drop the laptop off at a local TNT or other courier depot and the machines would be shipped to Scotland - ...

Re: W510 with Mini Dock Plus Series 3 - Critical Review w/pics

Yes the lack of proper expansion docks on the newer Thinkpads is a big step backwards. I use this feature extensively with both T42p and T61P - have docking stations at work and at home. I have been looking to upgrade to a W510 and lack of proper expansion dock means I am looking now at HP who do se...

The problem with Thinkpads locking up on intensive graphics (such as games) also happened on the T60P and in my case (and many others) occurred when dual ram was installed which whilst equal in size was perhaps from a different batch number or different manufacturers. The cure in that case seemed to...

Agreed - it is rather annoying that IBM/Lenovo have changed the power adapter to 20V. As I understand it IBM is having problems with shipping this particular model from China. Here in the UK this model is in severe shortage.
