Re: New to T400 series - needing some advice

I've heard of issues with corsair memories in ibm/lenovo's.
I'm quite curious about the 1666 modules. They are thea cheaper now - and can be useable even 2 years from now in a newer machine.

New to T400 series - needing some advice

Hello again In my signature you can se all my thinkpadding history. The latest addition is a T400 - 6475-GD3. Very nice machine, with a 1440x900 screen, decent configuration. First question - it runs (of course) on DDR3, 1066 according to specs. Does it need only 1066 type modules? Or i can add 1333...

Re: X60 partially fried - trying to rebuild :(

This thread shoud be, i think closed.

Gave up on the X60. For almost the money needed for a complete screen with inverter, fried memory and keyboard, i've found a nice T400 with the 1440x900.
The good parts will be sold (mobo, ram, hdd, battery etc)

X60 partially fried - trying to rebuild :(

Long time, no posts :) This is fine from the perspective of both my thinkpads were working flawlessly. Until last week, when my wife placed in the laptop bag a bottel with some dishwashing liquid. The cap not being so tight... about 200ml of liquid soaked the X60 :( Result: Bads: - Small board on ba...

Re: T4x using WXP help in customizing Access Ibm button

Yes, it is a regular windows, not an IBM version.

I cant seem to make it work... neither making a new registry entry - directly under tphotkey, nor making a registry "folder" under hotkey, with the entry inside it...

T4x using WXP help in customizing Access Ibm button

Found this topic: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Button but unfortunately - in the registry i don't have this item - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\TPHOTKEY\8001] it is the same until "tphotkey" - but the 8001 item is not... whats wrong? edit: - it's the frankenpad in the signature - basic...

Re: Keyboard Fn problem - alternate fix?

Problem solved, the "hard" way.

Detached the screw fittings on the r52 keyboard, and refitted them with epoxy adhesive in the positions suitable for T43.
Now typing on it, and working perfectly.

Re: Where are the air intake slots for the T43?

The fan pulls most of the air through the vents above the headphones and mic jacks.

Only a small amount is pulled through the other vents.

Re: Can I put a T40 or T41 SXGA lcd on a T43 XGA model?

I can confirm that - i'm working, and right now typing on - a R52, in a T43 chassis, and a T41 lid.

The only thing that it doesn't have - is the BT antenna, but since i don't ever use it, it's not a problem for me. Also both clearplates changed to t43 ones :)

Re: Connecting T43 to TV

T43 has S-Video output

you cam easily find a S-Video cable and a S-Video scart adapter. Also the scart adapters have audio inputs, and by the means of a headphonejack-rca cable - you can input also the sounsd from your t43.

Re: Keyboard Fn problem - alternate fix?

@johan - looked into the links... none of the solutions "recognizes" the fn key :(

The R5x 15' keyboard won't fit a T4x 14' chasis because of the screws' positions.

Keyboard Fn problem - alternate fix?

Hello Just have built a Frankenpad (see my sig) - basically it's nearly a "normal" T43. but the keyboard has the fn and left-shift key unoperable. And as everybody knows, the r5x keyboard don't fit the t4x 14' chassis... first - is this a known and/or fixable issue? second - is there any "emulator" ...

Re: T4x GPU Problem - Alternate Fix - R51 Mobo w/Intel GPU!

yes, left out the firewire bracket. I only use this on the R61, for converting miniDV's.

The mobo fits perfectly, same as in R51 mobo in T41 chassis. Just not to forget to remove the ultrabay supplementary connector plate (which only the R5x's have)

The T43 was (is) a 14' model.

Re: T4x GPU Problem - Alternate Fix - R51 Mobo w/Intel GPU!

From time to time, a new Frankenpad is born :)

After two weeks at work with the R52, spotted a ok-ish condition T43 (mobo broken) and this evening, during 2 and a half hours, did the transplant. Why? Because i've missed the feeling of a T4x...

Re: I never got a T40 series Thinkpad

For sure the T4x are the nicest TP's ever... Through my hands went several of them - mostly "hybrids" or Frankenpads - in my oppinion the TR45x's are the best combinations available - and now, for work (on construction sites) i use the R52 in my sig. The next days i'll be getting a mint T43 with the...

Skype runs well even with video. Decent with 1gb of RAM, very ok with 1,5gb. Thanks - nice machine indeed.
Came with 1x1gb of RAM - even before powering it up for the first time i inserted a second 1gb stick.
X40 felt a little bit more sturdy, but i cannot complain, this x60 is wery well built too. And the SATA and DDR2 offer more upgrade opportunities.
