Re: What's a decent graphics card for Thinkcentre A60 (56k warn)
I just picked up an Asus 5450 silent, which is performing a lot better than the integrated graphics I have to say. Strangely, there's no option for my preferred resolution, 1152x864 on a Lenovo 4x3 19inch LCD monitor. I'm currently using 1280x1024, but it's a little hard going for my poor eyes. Has ...

What's a decent graphics card for Thinkcentre A60 (56k warn)
The standard integrated, shared memory Geforce 6100 in my A60 is starting to get a bit creaky for youtube etc. What's a decent graphics card that can fulfil the following considerations? I don't need it to play games or anything too intensive. 1. fits PCI Express x16 graphics adapter, as written on ...

And not all for the better, but can you imagine affording a 'stack' of thinkpads in 98just makes me think of how much has changed since that keyboard was last in daylight in the factory.

Re: Thinkcentre XP odd audio setting mystery [attachment warning
It's a weird one all right. I blanked the hard drive and installed windows from scratch when I got the desktop, which was a couple of years ago. The driver dates from 11/12/2007. I could swear blind that this odd control appeared out of no-where very recently. Ah well - one of those things.

Thanks for this clue, the thing is it was normal before, and I don't play around with audio settings. There's nothing in my soundmax control panel about virtualsurrond. I've looked at the soundmax helpfile, but it makes reference to AudioESP: "You turn AudioESP on or off through the AudioESP setting...

RealBlackStuff, clicking the defaults button moves all those 6 channel audio sliders to roughly the middle of their range. Majestic, There's not really much space in the Thinkcetre for extras, I'm using the onboard Soundmax audio, no additional soundcard in the PC. It's just baffling

I'm admitting defeat on this one, and could use some help. I'm running Windows XP Pro, up to date, on a Thinkcentre machine type 9374. All of a sudden, the master volume balance control has disappeared, replaced by a strange little submenu for 6 channel output. http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy1...

I would be very interested if you could post how you got the trackpoint working (if you're using it). I couldn't get trackpoint scrolling to work on my T23 with Ubuntu Netbook Edition no matter what I threw at it. Anyone have any ideas as to keeping ribbon cable secured to rear of LCD? I'm thinking duct tape. I'd use electrical tape, but anything's better than nothing. I recently replaced the backlight on a Sony Viao, (I've almost recovered) and it seemed like the entire laptop was made out of ribbon and tap...

T23 on original heatsink paste, should I change it?
My T23 is still going strong, but I'm pretty sure the thermal paste for the processor has never been changed. The fan still comes on at 60 degrees C, but processor temperature seems to hover in the mid 50s to 60 during internet use. Is it time for some fresh stuff? If so, any recommendations?

Thinkcentre a60 standard power supply?
After my desktop died, I picked up a cheap a60 thinkcentre, typ 9374.
It's pretty compact in there, and the power supply has only one 4 pin molex! I'd like to try and transfer the guts of the thinkcentre into my old tower case. Does anyone know if the a60 can use a standard power supply?

Re: So long firefox, it was fun while it lasted :(
Update: I'm still using both browsers as I get used to Opera, but for anyone else who wants to continue using firefox and traditional trackpoint scrolling, someone posted a solution that works for me on FF 3.6.3, in which you modify a line in tp4table.dat. I've lost the link, if I can find it I will...

Thanks for the advice Ray; I changed the trackpoint option from scrolling to neither (something I'd never thought of), and updated to FF 3.6. It still did nothing till I checked the 'autoscrolling' FF option, and scrolling is working again! I'm not sure I like the way it scrolls this way, but it act...

Re: So long firefox, it was fun while it lasted :(
I tried your javascript suggestion (after reinstalling firefox), and ff is more responsive (at the expense of disabling page content). Thanks for the suggestion! The same page in opera shows that windows to the right and is still fast and smooth scrolling. I will probably run both browsers over a we...

As of today, I'm uninstalling Firefox from my T23. I've been using Firefox since the pre version 1 days - even before I bought this laptop - and it's been a great ride watching the browser become so popular. I'm not a browser bore - I don't care about benchmark tests or what have you. Firefox used t...

Down with Netbooks!
Some days i prefer to travel light and leave the thinkpad at home. My library lets you take out laptops for the day, just like the books and journals. Not any more! In their wisdom the IT department has replaced all the laptops with netbooks. Fine for emails or youtube, but if you have any amount of...

Fair point Neil - both methods will sort this problem - my view is that while both will certainly involve some fiddling around, whatever the software used, resetting the password is less draining than reinstalling windows, downloading the thinkpad specific drivers and unzipping them, installing etc....

Re: BIOS time resets to 1985 when battery runs out?
These eBay CMOS batteries are only good for 1 trip. Make sure you get a couple or next boot the time displacement circuits will be fried and you'll be stuck in 1985! Stranded with stonewashed jeans, keytars and shoulderpads!
