In the Market for a X1C

I am considering a used X1 to replace my trusty X201. I have finally let go of the need for a legacy style keyboard in favor of more portability and hopefully better battery life. I am considering a gen3 or gen4 machine and mostly concerned with battery life. I would like to get 4 hours average use ...

I just posted mine on ebay. I would take $139 shipped if that interests you.

Oh you tease me!!!

I have been thinking about fitting an x201 board in a T4x chassis, but of course this is next to impossible.

FS: X40 1.25GB RAM, Compact Flash HDD, with extras PICS

This is my old travel machine. I bought it in 2008 used, but it was in mint condition then. I have not used it much so it is still in excellent shape. The case, covers, lid etc. are all in great condition for its age. The only flaws I would note are some small scratches on the top lid and the bottom...

SOLD FS: T60 2Ghz T2500 2GB RAM 160GB HDD 2 batts and *PICS*

This is my old main home machine. I bought this slightly used in 2009 and used it for 3 years. Specs: -T60 (2613-CTO) with FP reader. -It has a 14.1 sxga screen with dedicated GPU (ATI X1400) -Screen shows no dead pixels or white spots. Re: Games playable on x200s

Super old topic I know, but I am curious how you get around the requirement for a CD or DVD to be in the drive? Do you use a patch to play without a disc or did none of these games require it? I might load a few older games on my x201i, but not sure how I will deal with the DRM issue of needing the ...

Does it have to be a T61 or can it be a T60? I have a 2GHz T60 I am going to list soon.

Right Angle Power Adapter

I am looking for a power adapter to convert the power cord to right angle into my x201. This one seems kind of pricy but is the only one I could find. Has anyone tried one or something similar?

Western Governments Ban use of Lenovo Machines

I'm really not sure what to make of this. If it is just a broad stroke precautionary measure it seems excessive. If they have actual knowledge of hacks in the hardware or software that compromises the users data I would love to know the details... http://delimiter.com.au/2013/07/29/chinese-spy-conce...

Re: Chicket Keys--Let the debate begin!

I think it is premature to say whether the T430 will have chicklets, but I think unlikely given the history of the Thinkpad keyboard. If you look at the 6th picture in the following link, what looks like the T430 shows a similar keyboard to the current one... http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/15/302135...

Re: T420s & X1 have same weight so what's the big deal?

T4xx should have been X4xx series but it was shifted to T for those looking for lighter weight. People on the forum has complained about LCD to no avail. At least X220 has an IPS option. Some diehard thinkpadders no longer own any thinkpads. Others looking for better designed and higher quality com...

I have exactly what you are looking for: a stripped T20 with working mobo. The LCD works also. I no longer have a CD drive so I can't boot to live Linux or diag CD to fully test. PM me if you want pics.

I ride a 1999 Litespeed Ultimate. Its an excellent bike for long distance rides. I mostly use it for longer group rides.

For commuting I ride a Motobecane Fantom CX. I ride around the city quite a bit in the summer time for general commuting.

Sorting Screws During Dissasembly

I am in the process of repairing a bunch of T41 machines and found I could use a method of sorting the screws during each step of parts removal. I have a 21 compartment plastic bin and I am going to put the screws for each step in its own compartment. I made a little reference sheet for the parts bi...

SOLD---T22 Non Working 900MHz 256MB with extras $25

This is my old T22 that has been sitting around for a few years. The last time I tried powering it up it would not stay on. If I moved it around it would shut off. At that point it would boot to Windows, now it does not seem to boot at all. Also includes 2 docks 3 extra motherboards (not sure if the...

Re: Refurbishing and Reselling Older Machines

I guess its a little like running a small used car lot, you have to have a wholesale source for your inventory. And in the end its not a great business to be in since there are no warranties and margins are low. I know of a bunch of companies that deploy Thinkpads for their field sales team and I im...

Refurbishing and Reselling Older Machines

I imagine there are a number of people here that repair older machines and resell them. I have always been curious about trying it and reselling them on ebay or CL. I consider it about every 2 years and every time I look into it the margins look horrible. I estimate I might make $25/laptop on averag...

Check out the thread below. It is now over 3 years old so some of the flash cards tested are no longer relevant, but there is a ton of useful data in the post. I use a 133x Kingston card in my X40 and it works well. There are probably better alternatives out now though. http://forum.thinkpads.com/vi...

How Rescue and Recovery Saved me

I had a problem recently after my T60 got infected with the Antimalware virus. When the virus first popped up I was able to reboot into safe mode and delete the windows registry entries and executables. When I rebooted I did a virus scan and everything looked fine. Then after opening Firefox a new v...

I was in Frys a year ago and they had a T400s on display. I am not sure why they would have one of those and not the standard T400/500 line also so things may have changed since then.

Conspiracy of Fools - Kurt Eichenwald Detailed account of the fall of Enron. The most interesting thing about this story is that it has happened before in various forms, and will surely happen again. It is all some variation of the Ponzi scheme... greed snowballs out of control like a powerful drug.
