You sure you don't have the Finger Print Taser upgrade?

I am dual booting Windows XP and Fedora 8 on my T30. It works fine except I can't get compiz to start everytime I log in. I can enable it once logged in though and then it's buttery smooth (even on my radeon 7500)

This was supposed to be a post in this thread but I hit the wrong button.

The powersleeve seems to be of excellent quality. I've had mine for about a year and there is no visible wear (and I cram it full of stuff).

I didn't think there was a demo of SLED 10 available. A Beta version 8 DVD was given to participants of BrainShare and the word was that a downloadable version would not be made available on the Novell website. Rob. I just assumed that is what this was: http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=U...

I really like some of the features that are coming out on SLED10. Anybody download and try the demo? Anyone even know what it contains? It's huge for a demo unless it is a full distro.

I own a T30 not a T4x but I use both of the SanDisk readers:
-PCMCIA that reads 6-in-1
-PCMCIA that reads CF

Both work great. I just leave them in the bay, that way they are there when I need them and there is nothing sticking out.

Good product, cheers.

Hey another flashlight fanatic... how many do you own?
Do you have any iNOVA lights?

I converted my interior lights in my jeep to LEDs. Luxeon stars for the main interior lights and normal LEDs for the footwell/convenience lighting.

(I know I'm a freak, no need to point it out :D )

Double connection to same network is bad

slagmi is right, If you try to connect both interfaces to the same network (i.e. DHCP server) they will both get different addresses which can cause problems. Also, it is unlikely that you would be able to get more than the maximum speed of one ethernet card because your server/router is likely atta...

Preferred interface

Windows XP (as well as other versions/OS I'm sure) has a preferred interface order. It will attempt to use the interfaces on that list in the order they appear. Your faster ethernet is likely listed first. Also, about the lower utilisation when multiple programs are using the internet. This is becau...

I think it is a great idea to have a built in light to illuminate the keyboard but has anyone thought of taking it further... Me and a co-worker were brainstorming and thought of two feasible options: 1) Replace the membrane beneath the keyboard with an indiglo substitute. This would softly glow out...

Suggestion to make searching more productive

I don't know how possible it is but recently I was trying to search for info on batteries for my T30. The search function turned up all sorts of irrelevant posts because everyone brags about their thinkpad specs in their signature. Is there a way to prohibit the search from looking at signatures or ...

Overlays

The black box instead of video is because your video application is using overlays to display the video. The external video will not include the overlay. Sometimes the options of the video software allow you to disable use of overlays. However, overlays is a more efficient way of displaying video. I...

Some photos of a T30 in a Booq Powersleeve 14

I got a powersleeve 14 for my T30 at Christmas. It fits very well. The laptop slides in for a perfect fit side to side and slides down inside an extra 3/4" further than the overall width of the laptop (powersleeves are portrait layout). The front pocket fits the charger cables nicely if you remove t...

What are your plans for a remote control?

Are you planning to use the HTPC like a piece of stereo equipment? I haven't tried the VGA out on my T30 but I have tried the S-video and it is not as good as the LCD. I have to qualify that by saying that the S-video was not set as my primary display and for that reason, overlays had to be disabled...
