Just the hard drive.
The motherboard was coated with dried soda pop, so I recycled the entire laptop.

identify 701C RAM

More than a few years ago, I purchased a used 701C on eBay. The motherboard had been damaged with soda being spilled. I manage to salvage the hard drive and the RAM module. I remember thinking that it is a 4MB module. It is made by Viking Components and the ID on the two chips 4LC1M16C3TG Is it a 4M...

TP600 hard drive caddy screws size? *PIC*

I somehow misplaced the screws for a spare hard drive caddy.

Can someone tell me what size it is?

I know it is 3mm but what about the length?
There are three choices at laptopscrews.com.

Would you believe I have removed my 600E's hard drive from the laptop before but I never paid attention to its height? At this moment, I am looking to buy a Dell Latitude C840 which is the newest model Dell laptop that would take a 12.5mm hard drive. I'd buy a Txx series, but they seem to command a ...

TP600E and TP570 hard drive caddy the same?

I am considering purchasing a used Thinkpad 570, but it does not come with a hard drive or a hard drive caddy.
I have an old hard drive that I can use, and I have a caddy for Thinkpad 600E.

Will I be able to use the 600E's caddy in the 570?

But you can tell the difference fairly easily. Ultrabay II devices are almost a complete rectangular box. And they are considerably too tall to fit in a slot in your 600E. The Ultrabay 2000 are about the same height as the UltraSlimBay devices: they look like they would fit into your machine even i...

is it a Ultrabay II or Ultrabay 2000 ?

I was sent a 250MB Zip drive a few years back with an used TP600E I purchased on eBay.

From looking at the ThinkWiki, I have narrowed it down to it either being an Ultrabay II or an Ultraybay 2000.
How do I know which one I have?

I doubt you are going to be able to get sound going on your 600E with Linux Mint 9 Lxde. The kernel is too new. The check for adequate battery voltage is built into the BIOS update script. Depending on which model, it sometimes is possible to fool it. I was able to update a 570 BIOS without a working battery. I have two good 600E batteries, so I was able to upgrade the BIOS on three 600E without any problems....
