Sure: just right click on that Intel Graphics icon in the systray, then properties - display settings - power settings - modify settings and you got all kinds of different power saving stuff there.

Okay, it seems that disabling the "Intel Smart 2D Display Technology" (whatever that is) setting at the power feature tab for the graphics driver "solves" the problem. I only hope this is a software/driver issue and not caused by an underlying hardware problem...

Still I find it weird that it only happens while on battery power - at the moment I'm trying to reproduce it with Intel graphics power management turned off...

ouh, I'm sorry about the pics...
Thanks for that hint bluewale - I must have missed the new video drivers when I downloaded the latest BIOS yesterday. Unfortunately they don't solve the problem for me :(

X301 screen/graphics bug

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my X301 display... Several days ago it began to show severe screen distortion/flickering when unplugged from AC-power (see video). The distortion only occurs sporadically and disappears once I connect it to AC again, leaving some marks on the GUI behind. I have no id...

rescue / recovery restore

After a 6 week odyssey I finally got the X301 today. So far I am very impressed by the sturdy and leightweight design (it's my first thinkpad...). The screen is very bright and the viewing angles work out OK for me. Battery life is as I expected with the 6-cell (not great but alright), but I might b...

X300/X301 warranty

Hi, I am about to order the x301, but there is still one point that makes me hesitate: I will be moving to Europe (Germany that is to be more specific) in May next year and I am kind of worried about warranty (knowing that notebook repair costs often outweigh the actual value of the machine). So I j...

thanks for the info erik! and dderkits is absolutely right about testing procedures - it is too early to make reasonable assumptions on battery life... i would have welcomed an sd card slot, too, but i think i can live without it (and might have to carry a small card reader around then)

"9 cell"? "two 6 cell variants"? where be such mythical creatures? Sorry, I might have been a little too unspecific: "basic" compartment: either 3 cell li-poly or 6 cell li-ion bay: 3 cell -> 3 cell, 3 cell + 3 cell, 6 cell, 6 cell + 3 cell Thanks dderkits for that site. Well, the battery life does...

Are there already any reviews on the X301 (especially concerning the battery life of 3 cell vs. the two 6 cell variants vs. 9 cell), as it has already been some time and I still can't find a hands-on test of the X301... I am still very interested in getting one, although I was kind of disappointed b...
