Re: Is there a current laptop that you are VERY excited abou

After a year I am still very excited about my T440s. If you touch it, you feel some kind of rubberized surface which is a bit similar to the old ibm models that were manufacted a decade ago and cost a fortune. The display is outstanding, as is the keyboard. It fell down multiple times, just once it ...

Re: T440s stick/touchpad not working

The problem is the hardware.

I wanted to have an idea what I should replace first. I already replaced the keyboard, but that was not the issue. The stick still does not work after a few seconds, and the touchpad also does not work after a few seconds of usage.

T440s stick/touchpad not working

After booting fresh windows 8.1 my touchpad/sticks works for a half minute, then both are unresponsive.

My usb mouse always works.

I replaced my keyboard bit the problem remains.

What part should i replace?

Re: T440s First Impressions

I ordered the WWAN card and the install was very smooth. I did not buy a sim card for the internet, though. I agree one should only open this notebook with a plastic opening tool. I broke most (if not all) of the latches during multiple disassembling sessions. Without a plastic tool I wonder how one...

Re: Touchpad not working 80% of the time

Well I destroyed it when I disassembled my device mutliple times, so I will just order it from my company. I just wanted another opinion whether it is most likely the touchpad hardware itself and not a software problem or so. Thanks for your answer!!! I also use most of the time the mouse, so i am n...

Touchpad not working 80% of the time

Most of the time my touchpad is not working. When I logon, sometimes the touchpad IS working, then I can use it for like 5-10 minutes. After that the touchpad is not responding anymore. It is most likely this is because I disassembled my notebook several times. I bought a new keyboard, but I still h...

I like your story, I do have some nice memories about that time, too. Thanks to TP Fan Control I can warm my T440s at least a bit up to 48 celsius.

Re: T440s First Impressions

The T440s FHD display uses a VA technology from my understanding. It is superior to TN like IPS. The technology is a bit different, but you may get the idea. What I like about the display is it does not flicker. The vast majority of all displays (including IPS displays) flicker. The flicker problem ...

Re: Torn Between The X240 & T440s: Thoughts?

For an all in one machine I would go with the T440s. I bought a x220 before and returned it as the palm rest was too small, and the display was also too small for my uses. The 14 inch FHD display is fine as is the weight and the superior build quality.

Re: 13.3 vs 12.5 multi-touch screen?

In general I prefer larger displays. Both my former T520 and my current T440s (which uses better display technology) have the same FHD resolution, and surprisingly I like the smaller 14 inch display more. I used the x220 for a short period of time and the display was too small for me.

The SXGA+ Display on both T500 and W500 is very good. It is much better than the lower resolution display. Keep that in mind when buying your notebook.

Re: Confused about X series differences

A 14 inch 16:9 display is comparable to a 12 inch 4:3 display if you mostly care about the vertical height. I meant lenovo could market the T440s also as an X440s, as a 14 inch x-series release. The x series had following characteristics: no optical drive, build to be small. If you need the smallest...

Re: Confused about X series differences

The T60 was upgreadable to a UXGA IPS display, I still use it occasionaly on the Intel GPU T60 and do like that very much. IPS does not mean it will be a good screen. A screen consists of backlight and the panel. There are lots of good panels build into the thinkpad (TN panels, but they can be very ...

My T440s has a docking connector and lenovo targets it as the premium T440 series model (FHD VA display, lightweight, mostly similar functionality: two battery system, same keyboard, expensive build).

Re: T440s First Impressions

It is fair to compare the x301 to a T340s with 13 inch TN lower resolution display and its docking connector removed. TN displays are usually lighter than IPS, VA displays, and the more pixels, usually the heavier are displays, too. If you like, you can compare the x301 display with the display of t...

The x301 was the best of the best at that time, I will not argue about that. And it felt very lightweight. Was it a successful product for Lenovo? As it is, I feel that for better or worse the T440s is probably in my future, since it's about as good as Lenovo has done with a relatively light and more fully featured notebook, since the X301, and at some point I'm going to need the processor upgrade. I think you nailed it with this. The T440s f...
