Re: YOUR FIRST COMPUTER?
The first computer I saw and had hands on access to was my Dad's Tandy 1000 SX. We had dumb terminals in my office, so not sure if that qualifies. My first was a ThinkPad T30, I really miss that little machine. Since then It's been T60, T61, R51, all purchased from members of this forum. Then a bran...

Re: Any REAL major differences between similar spec'd business class machines?
Just in case anyone was curious, I'm going with the P40 Yoga. In my opinion, a crappy Thinkpad keyboard is still better than anyone else's, the added oomph of discrete graphics, and the ability to write on the screen were the big factors. And, as I said earlier, I have a fond spot for ThinkPads, and...

Sometimes I wish there was someone out there who would say, just get the X1 Yoga and enjoy... And while I'll probably get one of the X1 machines or the P40 Yoga, I can't help but keep looking into The HP EliteBooks, there's something about them that intrigues me.....

Re: Any REAL major differences between similar spec'd business class machines?
Since I posted this inquiry I've continued to research machines. Combined with this research and my history with ThinkPads I'll end up buying either a X1 Yoga, new X1 Carbon or the P40 Yoga. Part of this decision is a comfort level I have with ThinkPads. I liked my T530, loved my T61, and adored my ...

Any REAL major differences between similar spec'd business class machines?
I'm in the market for a new laptop. My daughters have taken my T530 & Latitude e7450 to college. After weeks of comparison I settled on the HP EliteBook 850 G3 with 1920x1080 Touch Screen, descrete graphics, 512 SSD, 16 GB ram. I'll be using the machine learning to code, producing a Pod Cast, and so...

Hello, If you find a recovery disc for a T530, Windows 7 Home Premium x64, I would be interested in making a purchase. The product key is legible on the machine.

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)
There is quite lot of stuffs that goes into designing the ThinkPad Retro apart from the external aesthetics. If Lenovo wants to release the ThinkPad Retro in the next cycle, they have to use an existing motherboard that is already tested and certified. Otherwise, to do a new motherboard (and new sc...

Yes, a good keyboard is important. The Surface Pro keyboard has had mixed reviews and I wouldn't want to spend over $1000 unless it was proven high quality.

Re: It seems like everyone is moving to tablets...
The Dell Venue 8 7000 looks interesting. It has Intels Real Sense 3D camera and a micr sd slot. And the MS Surface Pro 3 calims to have enough power to repalce your laptop. It has at least one usb port and takes either sd or micr sd, can't remember. But the tablet market continues to make advances. ...

I haven't done anything like this before and was wondering how difficult it is to totally remove Windows and install another OS like Ubuntu. Are there problems down the road that pop up after doing this?

Thanks for the replies. I love my T530, and sometimes think a bad Thinkpad (is there such a thing?) is better than the best of almost any other machine. T440p or System 76 Galago Ultra Pro

Thanks for the tips and advice folks, here's what I plan to do. I currently have a 320GB HD so I'm going to replace it with the Samsung 840 Pro 256GB. If I decide to install either a SSD or move the existing HD to the ultra bay currently used by the DVD R/W, I would need something like the NewmodeUS SSD Caddy?

Re: T530 adding a 2nd hard drive question.
Hello rollinstone157,
Thanks for the info. So you're saying replace the existing HD with the SSD, then put in HD in the ultrabay replacing the DVD R/W? Then I would have to move the boot data from the HD to the SSD? I wil have to study up to learn how to do that. Thanks again for your reply.

How do I know if T530 has a WWAN card installed?
Hello, I purchased my T530 2359CTO from the Lenovo Outlet and have been thinking of instaling a mSATA SSD. How do I determine if my machine is mobile wireless ready without opening it up? If there is a mobile broadband card installed I will want to leave it and swap out the ultra bay with a 2nd SSD ...
