I gave up and managed to install the Power manager version 6.68.13 from the legacy download page and using Win 7 compatibility mode. Seems to work fine, can set battery parameters to extend battery life.
Thanks again

W701 thermal putty question
I see in the W701 Hardware Maintenance Manual that "thermal putty" is used between the fan assembly and the video card. My system runs hot and at some point I want to apply fresh thermal paste to the CPU and video card. I am concerned about replacing this putty to make sure that the video card is co...

T500: How to access AMT MEBX menu from BIOS?
Been trying to access the AMT settings menu (MEBX) via the CTRL-P key during machine boot and am having no success. I hit ctrl-p over and over quickly during machine power on but eventually I always end up in the OS boot. Double checked and Intel AMT is set to Enabled in the BIOS Are there any tips ...

Great spreadsheet! thanks for doing.
I was also wondering if it holds the info on the type of display whether LED or not. I have the old PSREF and it does indicated if a particular models display is LED or CCFL.
Thanks!

Hello, am wondering what method TPFancontrol uses to detemine the CPU temperature? TPFC always seems to be at least 5 degrees c higher than the temps shown by Coretemp as shown in the screenshots. what tools do you use for small mobo connectors in ThinkPads?
When repairing ThinkPads I always come across those tiny little connectors for things like fans, speakers, batteries etc which usually consist of a wire connected plastic connector which slots into another tiny plastic socket on the motherboard. I always have a hard time either pulling them out or p...

Re: Make bootable USB with Middleton BIOS upgrade?
This is how I created a bootable USB drive to apply the Middleton BIOS for my X61: 1. Insert your USB drive 2. Download and run the Rufus program from https://rufus.akeo.ie/ 3. Take default options to create a bootable disk 4. Download the Middleton ISO 5. Extract the ISO to a folder using 7-zip 6. ...

Looking for metal hard drive trays/caddies for T61/X61/T400/T500
Hi,
am looking to purchase about half a dozen of the standard metal trays with the plastic pull strip that slide into the hard drive bay on the X61/T61/T400/T500 laptops, I already have the rubber rails so they are not needed but if included that's OK too.
Thank you.
Paul

Thanks everyone, after researching more, I went ahead and just ordered the basic 4 cell genuine article from Lenovo (p/n 41U3196)
It should be fine for its intended purpose which is 75% of the time attached to a desk using a/c power.
