T61 - Windows 7, New WiFi, & Access Connections

Running W7 and the latest version of Access Connections (AC) and I had a 4965AG WiFi card in the machine; a friend gave me their old 4965AGN (notice the N added) card which has better reported through-put. Anyway, shut down the T61, swapped out the card, powered on, AC found it, but now any profile ...

T61 - memory limitations; more is possible!

I was reading the thread entitled: "T60/T61/p memory limitations -- the definitive answer," and while it looks like the T60 might be limited to 3G of physical memory, I read elsewhere that the architecture of the T61 will allow it to address much more than 4G of memory; the issue is that DIMMs of hi...

500G HD in UltraBay - Not recognized

I have a Seagate 7200RPM 500G hard drive which is in a USB case and works fine attached to my T61. Today, however, I took the drive out, put it in my UltraBay HD caddy, inserted it, but the T61 will NOT see the drive. When I insert it, the HD light comes on solid, but it never "sees" the drive. I ha...

Re: What HDD are you running in your T6x ?

I have a T61 and use both the Intel X25-M SSD and a Samsung 128G SSD both equally well. The system - with XP - boots to a usable state (including the login) in under 30-40 seconds. Though SSD's supposedly have power advantages, I have not seen any noticable gain in battery time with or without an SSD.

Re: T61 & Intel X-25M 80G SSD - System Hang

Yes! Curious about those reports, myself! Also, since the ThinkPads seem to ship from the factory with Samsung drives, do we know if they have the same issue(s)? If not, I'd be interested in swapping out with the new 128G Samsung FlashSSD drive.

Re: T61 & Intel X-25M 80G SSD - System Hang

Sorry, XP SP2; 4G RAM. I originally Ghosted my Hitachi HD to the Intel SSD and it works well, just for these annoying hangs. So far, haven't found any rhyme or reason to them.

T61 & Intel X-25M 80G SSD - System Hang

I have a T61 (7659-A71) and have recently installed an Intel X-25M SSD after much reading a researching about SSDs. In all, the performance - especially on boot - is amazing, but I have it where every couple of days, I'll be working along and the hard drive light will go on solid and the whole machi...

Just for clarification, there is a power-on BIOS password and then there is a HD password (also set in BIOS). I'm talking about the second one where you set a password for the HD and then you have to enter that password to get to the HD when the machine boots (similar to a power-on P/W). For instanc...

X25-M Password?

For those of you lucky enough to have an X25-M, I'm interested in buying one (based largely on the AnandTech review), but my employer requires a HD password. I had a Patriot SSD (yes, having all the lovely studder problems that typical "cheap" MLC drives do), but one of its additional downfalls was ...
