Help Needed On Which T60 Part FRUs To Order
Hey guys, So a while ago, I purchased this T60. Recently it decided to break apart. So I've been looking for an "A-Frame" , "Base" , and "Fan" to fix it. I visited http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62741.html to try and find the FRUs for them. I *think* that corresponds to FRUs 42R9912...

Re: WTB: 15inch A-Frame & Board +/- Fan
Hey, So I found this website: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62741.html Here I was able to locate "Base cover assembly for 2623 (15.0-in.)" and "Structure Frame (15in)". For my machine (2623-K8U), they have FRUs 41V9970 and 42R9912 respectively. But I want to make sure with you guys...

Re: WTB: 15inch A-Frame & Board +/- Fan
Thanks for that info. So I went to the website but I couldn't identify the FRUs for the A-Frame, Base and Fan. So I called the IBM parts order service, but they needed a definite FRU before an order could be placed. He suggested I contact Lenovo technical support to get the FRU numbers from them. I ...

Re: WTB: 15inch A-Frame & Board +/- Fan
Or does anyone know where I can order these directly from Lenovo?
How would I figure out what the part numbers are given the informaion in my signature?
Any help is appreciated.
I need to procure these parts this week, so that's why I'm posting here so quickly.

Re: New x120e
Well today's the 15th, but I don't see anything on sale yet.... Anyways, for those looking to see the technology in action, here is links to info about a very similair dm1z. Noticeably, it seems to be reported that the dm1z will have better battery life and heat levels vs the x120e Combined with the...

Hey FTC:
That's interesting. Never considered that possibility. But it's too late to test it now. Live and learn I guess.
@ Rest:
Thanks for all the responses. The laptop has been sold. It was quite capable in its time and served us well.

WTB: 15inch A-Frame & Board +/- Fan
So my T60 (see sig) is in a coma. Mostly due to physical assault from what I can tell. Used by a relative, and apparently , everything magically broke. Yet It looks like someone took a hammer to it. Though it looks absolutely destroyed, the hinges apparently survived the *sudden magical* assault. So...

Actually the 4WU was simply the older code for the same machine (which got changed due to motherboard swap). Anyway, the laptop has been sold, though to a non-forumite who didn't quite understand the reason for the red dot. O well... PS: If anyone's curious, it sold for $190 CAD. *LOCKING THREAD* En...

*EDIT: SOLD FOR $190 CAD* Hey formuites, So I have a T42 for sale for anyone that wants it. I'm asking $250 + Shipping to USA/CAN. The laptop specs can be seen in my signature. It is labeled as a T40 on the LCD bezel but has a confirmed T42 motherboard. It had a previous motherboard with GPU issue t...

Re: T40 Problems. Or is it a T42? You decide. [WARNING: 2 PICS]
Hi Faken If there's an error when the RAM is in the top slot, then there may be soldering problem with the slot pins - like with the T30's. If you're OK with using the bottom slot only then stick with that. Regarding the board type I'd suggest removing the fan (you'll have to renew the heatsink com...

OK so the RAM slot at the bottom has this on the first sticker: FRU/PN: 27K9984 IIPC P26R8207 (under a barcode) There's also another sticker with a large string of letters/numbers. There's also a third sticker right below it, but I think that's just that MAC address. Let me know if you need any of t...

T40 Problems. Or is it a T42? You decide. [WARNING: 2 PICS]
Hey guys, So I've had a T40/T42 for quite some time. And I have some questions regarding a problem it's having. The labels identify it as a T40. But, the model number sticker identifies it as a T42. Same with CPU-Z. Details of the Machine Model 2373-4WU/K2U --> first is sticker, 2nd is what CPU-Z re...

Yea I actually just got off the phone with a representative. He estimates that he will have the release information within the next week, but according to him that release date may actually be anywhere in the next 6 months. And Black>>> Red/White any day.

WTB: ~10-11in Lenovo Laptop
Why Lenovo?: Because Acer/Asus Netbooks seemed too flimsy and cheap and with bad keyboards. Ideally: - 11-12 inch screen with decent resolution - >= 4 hours of battery life - >= 2GB RAM - >= 100 GB HDD - Capable processor / graphics card for low-mid level gaming (no crysis ofcourse). - DVD/CD drive ...

Re: New T61, A question
Also,
Since you've moved on to Vista anyway, I highly recommend Windows 7.
In fact I think its analagous to what the SP1, SP2 and SP3 did for XP.
Without them you're losing out on way too much, in security, performance and features.
Enjoy the T61.

Old enough to have owned multiple laptops, and witess the Turbo button as well as the great Windows 3.1.
It's actually an American cultural term according to Wikipedia, but thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Owned a T61, What do I buy Next?
I understood that, but I felt compelled to challenge your decision to stick with Thinkpads simply because you have had bad luck with a few other brands. For example, I am familiar with the Dell Inspiron 4150 that you mentioned. It was made at a time when most of Dell's laptops (both consumer and bu...

Just for an idea: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Wrist-Rest-Keyboard-Blue/dp/B00004Z5Z8 They probably come in different shapes and formats, and one will be bound to work for you. Alternatively, get a normal USB keyboard to plug into the laptop. Lenovo has them even with the trackpoint. Hey, Thanks for th...

Re: Owned a T61, What do I buy Next?
Hey, Thanks for that link. I'll definitely check it out. I definitely do LOADS of research before I buy anything. A laptop purchase usually involves 1-2 months of intensive reading of every review and consumer comment I can get my hands on, and usually also the forums about the laptop itself. Usuall...

Gel Wrist Pad for a T61
Ok T6x users, I have a problem. For the first time in my life today, I felt some serious pains in my wrist. Now I probably subconciously altered my typing/trackpointing style recently, leading to my wrists touching the surface more than normal. This I can try to correct. In the meantime, I am lookin...

Re: Owned a T61, What do I buy Next?
Hey,
Sorry. In recent times, I've seen 2 HP laptops die / break that belonged to friends. I've seen a Toshiba which seems to be the most fragile laptop ever made (scary I know, considering their old reputation).
So I'm pretty much going for a Lenovo.
I'll look more into the W series.

Owned a T61, What do I buy Next?
Hey, I've had a T61 for some time now. Really enjoy it. I think what I like most is the sturdiness, the fact that nothing has ever broken despite rough use (my 4150 from Dell was as fragile as glass compared to this). Not to mention the amazing 4 hour battery life with a 9 cell even years later (cha...

T8100 Undervolting Q
Hey, I am planning to undervolt my T8100 on my T61 because it tends to get hot, especially when used on a lap or other non-hard-non-flat surface for an extended period of time. I am planning to use FlipFire's Undervolt Guide to do so. (See http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermar...
