Has anyone be able to boot from installing an OS on the SD drive on a x60s? I am considering giving Linux a try but prefer to boot from a medium other than CD or install it on the HD.
Thanks

I can not comment on the future ultra portables from Apple or Lenova because I have not used or even seem them. But I can speak to the overall build quality of Thinkpads and Macbook(Pro) as I have used both over the past two years. I currently use macbook pro 15", X60s and a very portable Panasonic ...

Try reformating the hard drive and do a clean install XP (or Vista) and forget about the lenovo software junk - pardon my langauge. With a clean vista install, the number of processes running on my X60s after boot went from 90s to 50 (there abouts) and my machine feels much faster now. On the heat i...

recovery cd for $45 + shipping?
fyi I received my new x60s and deleted C:. Re-installed WinXP on C. When I tried to make a set of recovery CD from the hidden partition, it says "this function is not available." I did format C: but had left the hidden partition untouched thinking it can restore C: or make a set of recovery cd from ...

After a clean XP install to replace Vista, I have one device marked "Unknown" under other devices. I downloaded all drivers and none seemed to work for the unknown device. Any suggestions/ideas?

Thinkpad x60s with Vista - so slow.....
Just received my x60s (1.66Mhz, 1G, 7200rpm hd). Came with Vista and it is significantly slower than my xp box with similar configuration.
Out of the box, it was running 81 processes!
Just thought I drop a note to share my experience.

HDD 5400rpm 60GB
Hi
I have a one month old T43 that comes with a 5400rpm 60GB drive. I am thinking about pulling it out and upgrading it to a 7200rpm. If you are interested in the 5400 drive, let me know. We can work out a deal.
thanks!

fyi It may take just as long to get a new X40. I ordered a X40 with P1.5Mhz which was listed as in stock but it was not shipped until 2 weeks later and another 3-4 days before it arrived - so regardless you would still have to wait for an upward of 3 weeks. BTW the new X40 was manufactured and shipp...
