Would like know this too, do you get the 2010 error with the replacement drive (would't think so), any possibilty to order just the adapter somewhere? (Does anyone know of anoth...

I would do a fresh XP SP3 install, and then install updated drivers and software from IBM. (Download the drivers and software and copy it to an USB stick or burn it to a CD before installing, make sure you have all the drivers needed first). Don't see the point in installing from old recovery disks ...

BTW. The Thinkpad x41 does not need any special IBM install CD, you can install it with no problem from a regular WinXP CD. or Win2K or Vista for that matter.

I have installed Win2K WinXP and Vista + misc. Linux distributions from fresh installs, and installed the needed drivers after install with no problems. (And I only install the important drivers and software from IBM, so I don't have all the IBM bloated software to slow the x41 down, I also use nLit...

Hi Tim S. I know about the German link, but if someone can come up with some info about the R/W speeds, and what parts needed and where to buy them, so I don't order something that doesen't work, it would be great!!

With the switches -ai (image all) you image and restore all sectors on the partition ...
