Re: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions

In my experience the LG-Philips is the 'yellowest' followed by IDtech then BOE-Hydis. The BOE-Hydis that I was talking about has lost some of its 'new blue' colour now, much later and still being used for >5 hours daily. I assume that as the CCFLs age they get more yellow and that, at least with som...

Re: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discuss

You need to flash the EDID on -101 in order for it to work on a T60/p. Identical otherwise from what I am to understand. I'm using a -101 in this machine that I bought from an ebay seller quoted in a thread on these forums and it just works - no EDID flashing involved. Although that said it may hav...

Re: Did I score a deal? 5 new T60 for $250?

OK that's a widescreen T60...with the lowest resolution screen. Not IPS and not desirable as a parts machine - those palmrests are not rare like ones for the 4:3 units - but still not a bad deal... Excuse my ignorance but why are the 15" 4:3 T60 palmrests so sought-after? I posted one to a random s...

Re: Don't throw away your T4x, The new mobo is coming![Lots PIC]

Hmmm, one thing just came to mind: I wonder how the T43 cooling system will behave with an i5 to cool...? Yeah, I wondered the same thing a while back. A little research told me that he TDP of the Dothan was up to 27w - while the mobile i5 is rated at 35w. Not a huge jump but significant. However I...

Parts machines, huh? I have a small hoard of parts, but not entire ThinkPads. I guess I need to start doing this for the 15" T60, palmrests are impossible to find for a low price (with low I mean, less than a whole unit with a BIOS lock from eBay). Yeah, by 'parts machines' I mean non-working Think...

Re: how many thermal pads in a T61 ?

I presume that one of the three heat pipes sticked to the heatsink cracked and was not cooling the GPU properly. Thanks God it was a cooling-system issue... I was already thinking that it was a GPU chip hardware issue or even "the infamous" FX570m w/ 4GB RAM incompatibility issue. Now it runs great...

Re: how many thermal pads in a T61 ?

Thanks for the reply. Of course I do know the difference between a PAD and Paste. But if you pay more attention, you'll see a small THERMAL PAD on the left side from the CPU. Actually there's a hole that is kind of FILLED with a thick thermal pad (Fig 13a, Fig 13b and Fig 16). That's what I was ask...

I am only looking for the tiny LVDS 30 pins and 14 pins connectors. These are USD 10ct pieces and industrial standard. Unfortunately all sources I know have minimum order quantities of 500-1000 pieces. :( If you locate a supply would you be so good as to put one of each in an envelope and send them...

Conventional wisdom on this forum says that if you're cloning a hard drive for ThinkPads (which sounds like what you're doing), you should put the destination drive in the internal drive bay , and the source drive in an external enclosure or whatever. The other way around often does not work. I'll ...

Re: Replaceing motherboard T60

The X1400 runs hottest of ALL T60 machines. Get an Intel mobo instead, unless you must absolutely have dedicated graphics for Photoshop and its ilk. Intel GMA 950 shares up to 224MB RAM, which is about the same as the FireGL (256MB). If you want C2D but for less money, get a T5500/T5600 instead of ...
