Re: T30 interfering the Internet wireless signal
Never heard of such a thing. Are you sure the T30 doesn't have a factory 802.11b card tucked into its underbelly? Kind of a shot in the dark here, as I'm hardly an expert, but in your place I might try setting the router or AP to a different frequency, and letting the Dell rediscover it. Positive t...

T30 interfering the Internet wireless signal
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 I know works fine with wireless.
Once I switch on the T30, it interferes with the wireless signal, the Dell 1520 stops receiving wireless signal.
What do I have to do on the T30 to stop it interfering the wireless signal? There is no wireless card in the T30.

Actually, it's no prob moving XP around, provided you can first access it via the original machine. Follow the directions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/ by adding the registry settings and extracting the files. You should be able to swap the HD and have it work, once you clear out th...

Hmmm, since the above worked like a charm for me, maybe the architecture of the disk isn't being recognized. You might want to consider using Hiren's to see if there is an MBR fix that might address the issue. Does the machine boot in any machine or blue screens even in the original? If that's the ...

Re: Cloning hard disk
I use Drive Image XML, it is free for personal use and it will copy my installed hard disk to one in the ultrabay. The resulting copy even boots if I replace the main drive with the copied drive. Here is a link. http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm Regards Thanks and I will try it. I have a ve...

The answer to your question has alot to do with the HAL , hardware abstraction layer, and xp's os kernel. Ever wonder why XP forces you to run that pesky time consuming Setup program when you do a fresh installation? It would be great if MS just supplied a universal image you copied to your hd & aw...

Would be nice to know the reason behind why the blue screen death. The chipset is different that is the main reason also the video card is different. Why don't you uninstall the chipset and video drivers on the T30 and then remove the drive and put the drive in the T23 and try if it recognize the n...

I've gotten the same/similar error when posting (or even previewing of a post), when PM'ing, and also when trying to view subforums and existing posts at least every other time I tried (sometimes much more often). On IE if you using, keep clicking refresh on the toolbar to workaround it. Not sure i...

Either buy a USB enclosure for 2.5" hard disks such as this: http://insidecomputer.stores.yahoo.net/2usb20alhadr.html or get a 2.5" to 3.5" hard disk adapter such as this: http://www.fast-accessories.com/product_info.php?products_id=1911 This last one requires you to open your PC and use it's IDE c...

Re: Now it won't boot...
I followed the advice: used another PC to copy an image of the old T23 HD, then put the new HD in the enclosure and copied the image onto the new HD. I then put the new HD into the T23, started it up, and can't get past the bios screen. I get a message that says "no operating system found. Check ca...

Cloning a hard disk.
I have been trying to clone a hard disk as backup procedure for a number of days without success on a T22. I used DiskCopy but it couldn't recognise hot swap of the ultrabay hard disk after I loaded DiskCopy from a CD drive. I tried 3 ways 44-pin flat cable but it couldn't detect the hard disk once ...

Swap hard disk between T22 and T30 problem
Why can't I swap a hard disk between T22 and T30?
I installed XP on a T22 and move it to a T30 with a blue screen death and unable to boot. The same thing happened if I installed it on a T30 and move it to T22.
Is it something to do with the security chip on the T30?

I think Knoppix should run on a T22 with a reasonable amount of RAM, but as carbon_unit mentioned drivers are key and that older Savage IX chipset can be tricky with Linux. I'd try one of the numerous boot/cheat codes that Knoppix responds to before I gave up. Since you are having an issue getting ...

I'm not sure your T22 meets the minimum requirements for Knoppix. Is it the cd or dvd version? Have you tried Ubuntu , DSL or Puppy Linux ? They all handle different hardware and one of them may work better on your T22. It the C...

Could you be a bit more specific with your problem? Knoopix is a version of Linux. You can create an image of it on a CD and load it on memory upon PC power up. I have no problem with a Dell Inspiron 1520. However with an IBM T22, it loads alright and upon displaying X-window it seemed to hung up. ...

I have to correct my selves. I was guiding you to the resistors that are related to the ADP3421, but I just realized, that what has been said is, that it is the resistors related to the MAX1632 chip that has to be dealt with. That makes it a little bit more difficult, since the MAX1632 has 2 voltag...

Correct me if I am wrong. To try to repair the T20 mobo, I have to solder a wire in parallel to the 4 resistors in question. That the only solution I can do before I change the two chips in question. There is no way to reprogram the bios without an eeprom programmer, unless I can find a known workin...
