Re: T41 CPU upgrade problem with Ubuntu
i think you have to reconfigure cpu power management. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_make_use_of_Dynamic_Frequency_Scaling http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_use_cpufrequtils If suspend and hibernate work, then you only need cpu management. Most things are done automatic. If too much work is...

Re: T41: fan broke but do i really need it???
Yes you need a fan! What about if the program fails ? Also you say you have an ATI gpu , which generates alot of heat, if it isn't managed correctly. I personally in my opinion see that getting a $30 - $50 long fan or $15 - $30 short one better than hanging your chances on a program that may or may ...

Re: Debian Lenny on X61 Tablet
You may be missing the wacom tools package. Try installing it: sudo apt-get install wacom tools Another alternative is to try using /dev/ttyS0 instead of /dev/input/wacom in your current xorg.conf file. this will install it. Then of you don't like the Xorg.conf under Leny and Ubuntu's one is good, ...

Re: Kubuntu power management
I think what you are looking for is 'KPowersave', it is the equivalent to gnome's power manager. It should be installed, enabled, run at start by default.

Re: T42 wireless will not stay connected
I can't offer you an exact solution, but here are my suggestions and these are in general: - Check for devices that operate in the same frequency as your Wireless Router ex. baby monitors, microwaves, cordless telephones all in the 2.4 ghz range - Turn your card to aggressive mode : Device Manager -...

Re: Going to max-out my T41...... opinions
Seeing as the majority here goes against the upgrade... I spent the entire evening yesterday hitting computer stores to see cost vs it's and old T41 and if it's worth it. In the "brand new" stuff , 2 gb ram samsung + belkin 'N or G forgot' wireless will cost around $50 that i`m going to get . the ha...

Re: Fresh lenny install and suspend to ram problems
I don't use debian anymore, and never faced this kind of situation when i used it, i can tell you how i fixed my suspend2ram under Arch. This fix may or may not work for you but most workarounds aren't distro-specific. You should check Grub's menu list: # (0) Arch Linux title Arch Linux root (hd0,0)...

Going to max-out my T41...... opinions
Hi i want to upgrade my T41 so it can live an extra 3-4 years (maybe more) without the need to buy a modern computer (Core 2 Duo etc, etc). My line of work doesn't demand a powerful computer, so i thought it's best to upgrade rather than buy. I've searched around here and there to see how to go and ...

Re: Arch Linux
Arch Linux is like installing Linux from it's very start to a full working desktop. You end up having an installation with everything specific to your Hardware configured correctly "if supported", and everything else that you really need. Other distros tend to install the general configuration which...
