Re: Thinkpad Helix Pro Keyboard compatibility (Gen1 vs Gen2)
I'm aware of that. I have a T61 and an X220 as well, and I've had loads of useful information collected from here, as well as shared. The Helix, though, that's a whole different ball game. Doesn't even have it's own topic (which made it harder still to find the right place to post this). Thanks for ...

Re: Thinkpad Helix Pro Keyboard compatibility (Gen1 vs Gen2)
Thanks for the reply. I know the pro keyboards are not interchangeable, but what I was wondering was if the inner "tray" with the keys is. You know, just the circuit board with all the keys on it. As for the stickers, I already have precisely the ones from your second link. It's a good temporary fix...

Thinkpad Helix Pro Keyboard compatibility (Gen1 vs Gen2)
Hey guys, I recently bought a 1st generation Helix with a Pro keyboard, but not in my language. I was wondering if the replacement keyboard (not the whole base with battery and such, but just the "key board") is interchangeable between both generations of Pro keyboards. As in... could I get the part...

Keyboard options
Hi, Thinking about changing to a Yoga I stumbled upon an important question: since I can't seem to get one at a decent price here in Portugal and I thought about ordering one from abroad, I'll certainly end up with a foreign keyboard layout. Should I need a portuguese layout, is it possible to switc...

Re: T61 cpu compatibility and upgrade
Thanks, I actually returned it and got the T9300 but I sold my T61 in the meantime, so I ended up with a fresh T9300 to spare.

Yes, I read something about the X9000, but not the Q9000.
Have to send it back, then.

Re: T61 cpu compatibility and upgrade
Hi guys, I need your help again.
I ordered a T9300 from a 100% seller in eBay but it turns out he sent me a quad core Q9000 SLGEJ.
I'm guessing this has nothing to do with Penryn and I'm also guessing T61 does not support it. Am I right?

Re: T61 cpu compatibility and upgrade
I was checking the link provided in another thread for the (middleton) patch to upgrade the BIOS but I don't know which one to download, because my 7661 is not listed there. Does it mean mine doesn't support it?

Re: T61 cpu compatibility and upgrade
Thanks, those are good news! I thought it was too old to support the T9300/9500.
Regarding the BIOS update, I can run it from Windows itself, or is it a "bootable" sort of update requiring external media (usb pen, cd, dvd...)?

T61 cpu compatibility and upgrade
I have a T61 (7661-Z3W) which has never been tampered with apart from the hard drive. Due to its 2GB RAM and dated T7250 cpu I've been considering getting a new laptop, but I believe maybe something can be done to improve it. Regarding the cpu, can I drop a T9300/9500 in there and expect it to work ...

Re: same cpu speed ratings on different models?
Interesting bit of info. Is it possible, for instance, to upgrade the cpu on a T61 (7661-Z3W)? If so, what's the best, fastest compatible processor?
Edit: did some research, T9300/9500 seems the way to go. For my specific case (and I am sorry for intruding here) is this cpu fully compatible?

T61 for sale, recommended value
Hi guys, I'm going to have to part ways with my T61 and I was wondering what a good (and fair) value would be to ask for it It's a T61 7661-Z3W complete with a docking station, 2 chargers (a regular and a smaller/travel one), an extra (new) 7 cell battery and the expandable carrying bag. Fair price ...

Re: What do you mainly use your T6x for?
I do a lot of stuff on my T61 and most is either work related or very personal stuff. It's kind of my stronghold, my most "personal computer" :P My desktop is on 24/7 but mostly for downloading and keeping in touch (e.g., Live Messenger is always on), and to see the ocasional movie or whatever. It a...

I bet it's stolen by someone who desperately wanted the data on the hard drive and had no time to take the tools and open it up properly. That's unnecessary brutality.

Re: having trouble with disc cloning.
Hi, I don't know if this helps but, having recently upgraded my hard drive (from the standard 80GB 5.400 Western Digital to a 250GB 7.200 Samsung) using Acronis, I had the same problem: after selecting all the options and rebooting, the system hanged. I then rebooted it again and, somehow, it picked...
