Re: W520 external monitor flickers in docked configuration
I solved my problem. It turned out to be a bad video cable. I didn't know something could go bad just sitting there.

W520 external monitor flickers in docked configuration
I need some help. I have my recently purchased W520 docked in a Series 3 Mini Dock (model 4338-30U) and the external display flickers on and off consistently, to the point that the laptop is unusable. Here are the specifics: * W520, Windows 7 Ultimate. * OS is fully updated and all Lenovo software a...

Re: T60p Increase Gaming Performance
Read this link , which addresses the very question you're asking. One finding was that Windows 7 64-bit gave noticeably improved graphics performance versus Windows 7 32 bit (at least, for the application the OP was running). Most on this forum would claim (rightly) that a 32-bit OS is optimum on th...

Upgrade question, Intel 5300 wireless on T60p 2623-DDU
I'm wanting to upgrade my wireless less card on my T60p 2623-DDU with an Intel 5300 card. Of course, I'll need to flash the modded bios for the machine to accept the card. My question is this: will the card work in the slot for the wireless WAN card, or must I install it in the same slot as the wire...

SOLD: T60p w/ UXGA Flexview, for parts
Up for sale is a T60p, model 2007-95U, with a UXGA (1600 X 1200) Flexview screen. The laptop works fine but a horizontal stripe occasionally appears across the bottom of the screen when the lid is flexed, a condition that will get progressively worse with continued opening and closing. The horizonta...

Re: Building T60p
- I never tried to overclock any laptop-have zero knowledge about that. But I would love to make this my new toy working at about 2.5-2.8 GHz - can this laptop with this CPU (T7600 2.33Ghz) do that safely and is that very hard or reasonably easy thing to achieve ? The T7600 cannot be overclocked. Y...

Re: Mobility Modder Driver for V5200 - Which Ones Are You Using?
I followed bmwman91's instructions faithfully and tried these drivers, but they didn't work for me. My T60p is docked and attached to a WUXGA external monitor, and the monitor flashed on and off repeatedly to the point that the computer was unusable. I had to remove the drivers and go back to the pa...

Re: "retail box" SSD for T60?
If the price differential is not too great, I'd pay a bit more for the security of the boxed version. Not only will you have better warranty protection, but some manufacturers don't support firmware upgrades for OEM SSDs. Samsung is one that does not, and unfortunately Samsung drives are generally t...

Re: FS: Misc parts for T60
You can see a picture of one by going to eBay and searching for 26R9434. This is the entire assembly that cools both the CPU and the GPU. Both heat pipes connect to the cooling fins/fan assembly.

Re: FS: Misc parts for T60
The Hardware Maintenance Manual doesn't list the 2007-AA4, so I can't say for sure. However, based on the specs of your laptop I expect that it will work fine.

Re: Best upgrade options on the T60p 2623-DDU
Upgrading the CPU, cooling, and wireless card should only take around 15 minutes. You have to remove the palm rest, keyboard, and cooling fan in order to get at the CPU. This job is easy and straightforward and requires no particular skills. Since you would have already removed the cooling fan with ...

Re: Best upgrade options on the T60p 2623-DDU
ZaZ is right, almost. It is true that installing an SSD will provide the greatest pickup in performance, and upgrading the CPU to a Core 2 Duo such as the T7600 makes a negligible difference ... usually. However, there is a noticeable performance gain to be had in certain applications by upgrading t...

Could your problem be caused by a bad CMOS battery? They're quite cheap over eBay and are easy to replace.

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
My T60p has 2 matched 2GB DDR2 modules for 4GB total (3GB usable). Incidentally, I made a mistake in my earlier post. My external monitor is not UXGA (1600 X 1200) but WUXGA (1920 X 1200). That raises an interesting problem: why do we both report 20fps if your CPU is 16% faster than mine but my moni...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Hoping someone with a V5200 GPU and core2duo can test for comparison. My machine fits the bill: T7200, V5200 GPU, 3GB RAM, Windows 7-64, Catalyst 10.2. I averaged 19-20 FPS, occasionally getting as high as 21 or as low as 14. Edit: I should have added that these results were obtained with the lapto...

SOLD: T60p 2623-DDU for parts or project
For sale is a 15" T60p with UXGA in working condition, but this laptop is definitely is a fixer-upper. The motherboard was tested with PC-Doctor and it works fine. The UXGA screen is bright and clear (but, see additional details below). The unit comes with a battery (in poor condition, but serviceab...

The hardware maintenance manual (available for download on the Lenovo website) indicates that possible causes are (1) loose connector, (2) bad DIMM, or (3) system board.

Re: T60: Getting the best GPU termal performance
TuuS gave excellent advice. Removing the thermal pad to allow direct contact between the heat pipe and the GPU will lower the temperature at the GPU by 5-10º C. However, your specific concern is fan noise, not overheating, and the ThinkpadFanControl utility can help immensely. Straight out of the bo...

Re: Issue with the display of a T60P 2007 C8U
Not so fast! Your problem might be a bad inverter rather than a bad GPU. If your laptop displays properly on an external monitor, then the motherboard and GPU are OK. In this case, the problem is almost certainly a bad inverter. Inverters are inexpensive and can be installed in a matter of minutes. ...

Re: Expresscard SSD on a Thinkpad T43p
The answer to your question is yes and no. Yes, expresscards work well as SSDs in the T43 lineup, but they cannot be used as the boot drive. The laptop needs Windows to load a driver before it can recognize the card. If you don't mind performing some minor surgery on your T43, RealBlackStuff's solut...
