Re: Positive feedback for FAIR Traders

And Thank You, George!
Mom's very happy with the now-SSD-equipped T420i.

All we gotta do is keep MS' grubby Win10 sneaky-mitts off of it, and we're good to go!

Cheers,

Re: RetroThinkPad survey #1 of ??

While I've said my piece, it comes as quite a surprise to me that the survey hasn't broken 100 comments as of right now... I think most folks are going right to the survey. I seen several places where the blog article wasn't linked at all. Still and all, it'd be nice to have some indication of how ...

In this regard, I believe that the X230 is equivalent to the X220 where only the WWAN mPCIe slot is connected to the SATA channels.

Saw your post over on Lenovo Forums. Glad you found your way over here, too. You do indeed have an R51e. You can confirm the original specs using the MTM query tool near the top of the forum page. You might also like to take a look at your hardware manual, which can be found via the HMM link near th...

Re: New X1 Carbon (2015) Question - Touch vs. No Touch

The Gen3's touch screen isn't too glossy at all, IMHO. It's got some kind of anti-glare film factory applied. It's certainly not glossy like my Y3P or Helix LCDs.

Re: Lenovo’s Promise for a Cleaner, Safer PC

First thing I do with every new PC is to format HDD, get rid of the recovery partition and install a new OS from scratch. On a new laptop I would accept a Lenovo System Update (in a more user friendly variant) preinstalled. Nothing else :) I'm curious... would you be willing to pay more for such a ...

Yep, keep the touch model. I think you'll find yourself using the feature now and again even if you primarily use the TrackPoint. I certainly do.

And to reiterate, all Gen3 Carbons have the physical F keys.

Re: Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen. 3 SSD type

I've also got a pre-release gen3 Carbon. The PCIe 512GB SSD in it is a Samsung MZHPV512HDGL-000L1 (http://www.thessdreview.com/daily-news/latest-buzz/samsung-sm951) and in synthetic benchmarks it scores 2.5x higher than the SATAIII Samsung 840Pro in my X220's main drive bay. To fully clarify, the ge...

Welcome to TPF.

You can use that RAM, but there's no performance benefit to it. It'll clock down to the memory bus speed of your X220.
