Re: Why does my R51 spontaneously reboot?
Have you tried swapping out the memory? If you have 2 modules, try one of them at a time.

Re: bad hard drive? and other r51 help
Malin, buying an IDE PATA drive should be fine but make sure you do not buy a SATA drive. It will not fit. before you a new drive, have you tried putting the harddrive in an external IDE 2.5 USB enclosure to see if you can read the harddrive from another computer? the problem is that you dropped the...

Re: Bl-Ray drive in an R51e
There exists a device "Broadcom CrystalHD decoder" . It is a miniPCI-Express card that gives you hardware acceleration for HD media. It is often used in the older Apple TV to let it support 1080p video. The only downside is that R51 doesn't have miniPCI-express, but miniPCI. And you will loose your...

Re: [R51] How to avoid boot delay if no main HDD is installed?
So the SATA is seen as HDD1 in the BIOS where as previous with the DVD drive in, there was no HDD1? I would of thought it would boot quick similar to booting from a bootable DVD or CD (I mean seeing a boot media in the ultabay).
I'm assuming the BIOS now see no DVD/CD drive, correct?

Re: R51 questions
I incase you haven't thrown out the R51 yet. Why don't you just go ahead install a new copy of XP? If you get a new harddrive (or used) it would be better to start fresh anyway. This way you still have the old XP install and can return to it if you like or pull data from it by putting it in an exter...

I won one off of eBay IBM 92P6575. It was a Ultrabay Multi-drive DVD+-RW.

Re: R-51 wireless LED not working w/ vista upgrade
I am not too thrilled with the idea of yanking the keyboard to get at the other one (makes me wonder why they stuck it there ????). the other stick is the OEM 256 one under the keyboard so total is 1.25 gigs. Actually, its quite easy to do, 3 screws, hinge open the key board (slide up first) and un...

Re: R51 CPU Upgrade, is it possible from "Celeron M 1.3ghz&
Well, I upgraded to a Dothan 1.7GHz CPU and notice a slight difference. I will have to do some real work and see if there is a noticable difference especially coming from a 1.4GHz Celeron. Should of did a bench mark before I upgraded. Next is to upgrade the harddrive but thats not a priority. If I s...

Hi,
I was wondering how Vista runs on the R51? Did you upgrade to 2G of RAM?

R51 DVD Rom
Does anyone know if I can replace the DVDRom from my R51 with a DVD-RW from an X61? I don't have the part number for the DVD-RW from the X61.

Re: R51 CPU Upgrade, is it possible from "Celeron M 1.3ghz&
Great thanks guys. I think I will go for the 1.7GHz and look at getting a faster harddrive. I already max the ram to 2G and notice a slight difference. Funny. I'm buying the wife a new high-end laptop and settling for the old one...*sigh*.

Re: R51 CPU Upgrade, is it possible from "Celeron M 1.3ghz&
I know this is an old thread but I am thinking of upgrading my R51 to give it new life as well. I have a R51 with a 340 celeron 1.4GHz and was thinking of doing the same thing as Sweeetdaddy and upgrading to a P M 765 2.1GHz SL7V3 CPU. Does anyone know if Sweeetdaddy was successful? I see he hasn't ...
