Re: T400 Boot Loop issue {Video}

I recently fixed boot issues on a T500 by simply entering BIOS and selecting "Reset BIOS settings to default". I am not sure, but this may be the same as disconnecting the CMOS battery. It had a very peculiar problem - 4 times out of 5, it would not load Windows from disc, just sit there with a blin...

Weird color calibration problem on T61 Intel GMA

Hello all, I'm having a problem with color reproduction on my T61 1680x1050 screen. I'm running windows 7, panel calibrated with eyeOne, had to disable igfxpers.exe from autoloading (known intel win7 bug, googled it) to get decent colors... all was well. Recently, the display started having a proble...

Re: Floppy disks with T40 series and T60 series

I don't know for sure about T60. But on my T4x Port Replicator, there is a connector for a floppy drive. It's a crazy system. You need a compatible drive, the one I have once belonged inside a T22. Then, there is also a proprietary cord from IBM, that has an Ultrabay connector on one side and LPT on...

T61 Intel GMA x3100 video max resolution

To whom it may concern, I have spent the better part of the day searching for the maximum resolution the Intel Video X3100 version of the T61 supports via DVI passthrough (advanced mini dock). I only found data for the infamous Nvidia self-destructing chip, which reportedly has Dual Link DVI and can...

Re: Upgrading T2400 to T7200 makes big speed improvement

I went the same path with my T60-from t2500 to t7200, there was a noticeable difference... I need to use lightroom, so I liked that. Also I like the added psychological comfort of having a Core (2) architecture and SSE3. However, my t61 with 7500 is still much faster, even with less RAM installed. T...

Once in a while --especially when tilting the computer -- I'm getting an error message about Windows not being able to eject the drive as it is in use. You people frighten me with the amount of fan threads on the T60? Do they really really fail that often?

Is it a good idea to get a spare one while they are available?

Re: T42 - Reconditioning the Battery - does not run

If it does not work at all, you may try reinstalling/updating the power manager software. If this does not help, then the battery itself is at fault. BUT, and that is a big but.. Do a search here on battry reconditioning and you will find that this procedure is very unlikely to do good to your batte...

Re: T60 or T410 ??

There's an X200 AFFS modification if portability is your thing, that's the answer. That's a rather cool proposal and I second that. Needs some investment AND some tinkering though. I was in the same situation lately, searching for a decent Photoshop-friendly Thinkpad to use as my main machine after...

Re: T60 BIOS Update Failure

Can you enter the BIOS by pressing f1? If so, reset all settings to default and you have still hope If F1 doesn't work, the easiest option is a new motherboard, but don't throw away the old one - it must be perfectly salvageable by the right people who can unsolder\rewrite the chip. UPD: oh, I see F...

Replying to the original poster: 1. Yes, the keyboard will get shiny eventually. 2. No, you should not mind it, because it is a sign of a long-lasting relationship you've had with the darn thing. ATI PowerPlay and Windows Aero - does not play nice

OK guys, I found out that while on battery power, ATI PowerPlay function slows the Windows Aero Desktop to an insupportably slow crawl. I thus had to disable the function in Windows power manager. A t61 mobo still leaves issues - it's not a clean fit, you lose the modem (what if you just NEED to send a fax to some bank or other institution?), the NVidia thing is reported flaky... Keep the T60 mobo around in case you'd want to revert back...

Re: T60: Planning on swapping out my T2400 for a T7600...help?

Well, I don't know why Core 2 Duo should be any cooler at all. The die size of the CPU is almost twice as big. I went from a T2500 to T7200, because I wanted to ;) C2D in my case runs 5-7-10 degrees Celsius hotter. This is a complete non-issue though, because while browsing (and dosing similar stuff...

I did that with me own hands. Took me an hour approx., following the HMM exactly. Re: Computer screen dim after hibernation in windows 7 t60

It's easy as pie. Windows 7 remembers brigtness levels for plugged in\ out configurations automatically. On all Thinkpads from 60 series on, Windows controls brigtness through the BIOS. So change your power plan settings (click on the battery icon in the status bar), that's all.
