I haven't tried it extensively and it is dark outside now.. but the few times I have been in direct sunlight with my X300 I had to turn up the brightness a few notches and make sure I was at a good angle - and it was readable - not fantastic, but no better/worse then other laptops I have used in the...

I am not 100% sure of that, as far as I know a 64-bit OS will tax the CPU (slow or fast) the same as a 32-bit OS would - If you do a quick google search on 64bit vs. 32bit you would find that in application or real-life benchmarks, the 64bit OS will perform slightly faster then a 32bit. I think when...

I think it makes even more sense (in a way) - programs can take advantage of the 64 bit architecture to run more efficiently, sort of counter balancing the slowness of the CPU. It works more in theory then practice though because not many programs are optimized for 64-bit... more and more are such a...

X300 GPS Lag (With Verizon WWAN Card)

Hey Everyone, Yesterday I received by 6478-1JU notebook and I had a pretty hard time getting the system to start picking up a GPS signal. I would start the ThinkVantage GPS software and it would search for about 30-40 seconds, after which it would say it could not get a signal. If I tried to search ...

My X300 originally came with 1 stick of 2GB Samsung, I replaced it with 2x2GB Buffalo Select DDR800 sticks and they seem to be working well.

I am running Vista x64 on my X300, it has only been around 12 hours so far but everything is working perfectly as far as I can tell. The only thing I have been unable to confirm is the GPS, for the life of me I can't get a signal it seems... when I hit search again it only searches for 2-3 seconds a...

Mine arrived with a TMD screen as well it seems, I really like the brightness of it compared to my T61,X61t, etc. but the sweet spot for the viewing angles is too small for comfort... I was almost sure I had one of the Samsung screens that people have been talking about until I actually checked.

t42 15" screen dimensions

Hi, I am doing some research on T42s and had a quick question, does anyone have the viewable screen dimensions L x W of a 15" T42 in mm?

I tried searching but could only find the dimensions of the whole unit.

Thanks,
Elmo

New Bios 3.12

There is a new 3.12 Bios out, since updating to it I am not able to get any video playback, I updated my Video Drivers at the same time, so that may be the case, but according to some forums, it is a bios issue...so it got me thinking, anyways, if anyone else updates and has issues, it would be nice...

What is Included (T42) ???

Hi, I recently bought a T42-DXU from Bill, I am trying to find all of the accessories that were included with the Thinkpad and assemble them in one place...but I have no idea what those accessories were!! So if anyone could tell me what came with their T42, that would be awesome! So far I have the M...

I must agree as well, the Thai keyboards feel much more solidly built and made for a Thinkpad, I find typing much easier on them (had a China one, got it switched from IBM Canada)

The China one reminded me of a Dell or a Toshiba notebook.

My 2 Cents,
Elmo.

Just to clarify a little, I am running a 2379-DXU with a 512MB Ram upgrade, the system, including the Radeon 9600, is not overclocked or tweaked in anyway. I'm Running a T42 1.7ghz, R9600, 1gig Ram, I have installed the ATI 4.9 Beta Drivers.

800x600 High Quality, All Advanced on except AA and vsync, I get apx 30fps in game.

Running the timedemo1, it benchmarks an avg. 26fps.
