Re: X60 Fuselist
Would an aftermarket battery or a/c adapter (i.e. sold from amazon) run this risk? I was looking for a spare battery and a/c adapter from the x60 which is on its way.... Not unless it's a bottom-of-the-barrel charger. The worst that usually happens with those is the power brick itself goes out. The...

I actually have a request regarding the handling of Quick Path entries. I noticed that the site no longer accepts the original URL-based entry. It also looks like this is all now handled with Javascript. If possible could you integrate this functionality? Here is an example of how the original site ...

Re: T60/T61 FlexView FrankenPad Questions
Alright, it's time to revive my thread! :P My budget is back on track, but I'm still hunting down a T9300/T9500. Without a CPU, I was unable to test my rather pricey T61 motherboard, and because the seller's warranty is long gone, I'm hoping it works okay. I have, however, managed to get a TurboCach...

Sorry for not keeping you guys posted. I'm working with a few budget constraints this week, but I hope to be ordering a parts machine with a T9300 that I can use. Once I have that, I'll resume the project.

T60/T61 FlexView FrankenPad Questions
Hi all. It has come time to retire my 15" T42p FlexView workhorse. While I never foresaw it, I seem to be pushing it too hard for it to keep up with me. Investigating my upgrade paths, I decided that the best option would be to build a T60/T61 FrankenPad. The reasons might be apparent to some, but f...

The best I've found is this rather hidden page on ThinkWiki. It isn't 100% complete, but with a bit of CTRL+F, you can find matches. If I find good candidates, I suppose I will be contributing to this list instead.

Alas, no. I ended up selling the motherboard for parts. Let me know if you run into anything though, as I've been working on more T60s.

Re: QUESTION: PC2700 vs PC3200 RAM
In this situation (PC2100 TP w/ PC2700/PC3200 RAM), I usually get problems only if I mix 2 different brand modules. AFAIK, the problem lies the adjustment of the CAS latency when the module is being slowed down. For example, A PC2100 module might operate with a CAS latency of 2ms while a PC2700 or P...

Re: Slower boot time using Advanced Dock w/ my T60p
You could be right about the network connection idea -- this is a feature of Access Connections, but it applies to wireless connections. It may be trying to connect to the WiFi network in lieu of the Ethernet connection depending on your settings. Try this: -Open Access Connections from the tray ico...

Re: T60 Boot up problems
Hi kaliste and welcome to ThinkPads.com. It appears your ThinkPad will not finish POSTing (Power On Self-Test) and therefore can't proceed to the boot process or get into the CMOS utility. First, I would like you to try a "full power cycle"; this trick has solved a few non-starting machines of mine,...

Re: T60 - No AC Power. Motherboard issue?
I noted that when I saw that the original fried T60 board had a nice beefy ATI card and extended fan plating. Fortunately, the new board (1951-44U) has the Intel 950 Integrated Graphics. I managed to get the fan from another broken T60 I have (1953-D8U) which also has the Intel graphics. The only di...

T60 - No AC Power. Motherboard issue?
Hi all. One of my T60s had a complete motherboard failure and would not power up. I installed a working motherboard, which I tested a few times, and powered it up with AC power. All worked fine; I popped in a battery and let it charge. A few hours later, I unplugged it and powered it on. I decided t...

Excellent! What sort of video card issues? Anything reasonably repairable? Also, I have a pair of T60s that I've been working with--one of them that won't turn on the LCD at all and doesn't light up the system LEDs but otherwise works great with an external monitor. I was getting ready to sell it wh...

Common T6x Problems?
Hi everyone! As my laptop repair gig is starting to grow (and as 2.5" IDE HDs are getting more expensive), I am making the transition from repairing and refurbishing mostly T4x to T6x machines. Most T4x problems seemed to involve the BGA on the GPU and fuses that caused power problems (and the sprin...

Re: 15" T42/T43 (or T60) SXGA LCD upgrade for a cracked G40 XGA?
Good to know. You will be building a G4x FrankenPad with an IPS LCD, right? :) I might just do that, actually. My plan was just to replace the SXGA+ LCD it had, but I tested it with the UXGA IPS display in my problematic T42p (needs a reballing =( ). An IPS LCD would be awesome for a desktop replac...

Re: 15" T42/T43 (or T60) SXGA LCD upgrade for a cracked G40 XGA?
As it turns out, this machine had an SXGA+ LCD to begin with. It's IBM P/N 92P6668 and FRU# 92P6667, the same listed for this machine in the HMM. It is a Samsung LTN150P4-L01. The LCD cable is a 30 contact connector 1.25" in length (on the most narrow part of it). I took the 15" UXGA IPS display fro...

15" T42/T43 (or T60) SXGA LCD upgrade for a cracked G40 XGA?
Hi everyone. I have here a ThinkPad G40 with a cracked 15" XGA LCD that I won on eBay. I'd like to know if I could safely order a T42/T43 15" SXGA LCD for use in this G40. Looking at the stock options, an SXGA LCD was offered for it. Would I need a new LCD cable or inverter? Also, would a T60 15" SX...

Hi everyone and thanks for your replies. Just to update you on what has been going on: -I reflowed the T42 again (I have my process down pat now) and it still won't work. Re: T42 and T42p 15" powers on with lights & fan, but no video
I wouldn't say "cause", but more of a "sign" of a particular process being implemented... That's more or less what I thought. I'll have to do some research. @Carlisle_united: My theory is your first reflow worked on the BGA balls themselves, but the epoxy dots prevented the GPU from dropping down o...
