Would there happen to be a how-to on taking the mobo out?

OK... I pulled everything (WiFi, etc), including the memory. No love. F1 is not happening. I reinstalled everything including the memory. *I get a 1-3-3-1 beep code for the first time. My trusty T23 isn't booting. It accesses the HD, the fan turns on but nothing more, except every tenth boot or so, the "IBM" page appears followed by 0211 keyboard error, press F1 for setup. (F1 doesn't work.)

I reseated the keyboard to no avail.

Any ideas?

The only major drawback, to me, with the X61/X61t is that there is no built-in optical drive.

I bought a small USB-powered optical drive and Vista couldn't see it.

$50 later I downgraded to XP (from the very drive Vista wouldn't see) and it works fine.

I have the discs and it seems to work fine. No issues.

The blue button and the volume buttons aren't working either. Hmm.

Hitachi HDs are quiet, and if you use the software from their site the drive can be tweaked for quietness.

I downgraded for $50, I'm happy with XP and so is the gear that Vista couldn't see.

I thought it was for the digitizer as none of my other Thinkpads have the sparkly, and none of them are tablets. Maybe its something else.

Maybe it was 8. I lost count. Who needs 1 DVD when you can have 8 CDs?

I had to pay for the XP Tablet downgrade (It came on 6 CDs) a few months ago, but it was worth it at the time so the computer could see my external hard and optical drives.

I thought the sparkly was from the mesh for the stylus. I'm not wild about it on my X61t, but I treat it as a character trait.

Which model machine do you have?

For those of you who have sent the machine in for the bezel issue, is it well fixed?

How does the MTBF of this drive compare with non-perpendicular drives?

Upon sending a small file to a computer connected via Remote Desktop on my LAN, the remote computer immediately disconnects, displays a login screen locally and can only be accessed locally.

I have other machines I do this with without a hitch.

All are running XP.

Any ideas?

That was it. I had to unclick an override box in Access Connections. Thanks.

Why does Access Connections exist? Does it just duplicate what Windows does or somehow extend the feature set?

I disabled DHCP on my X61t to assign a static IP to the wifi connection.

It works fine until the computer reboots, then DHCP is turned back on.

Any suggestions to keep DHCP turned off?
