Yes, it has 54mm Express card slot (on the left side under palmrest). I actually bought a card for that but have moved the card to my new laptop.

Richard, the types for which the CDs work are listed in my ad, which does not show 6465, so I'm afraid it might not work for your friend's machine (not sure).

It could only be XP because that was for my T61, which was on XP (I sold it). In fact I've used only XP for all my thinkpads. I never used Vista .
