Re: water spill touchpad killed t42

I had the issue of both trackpoint and Touchpad stops working from time to time in a T43 I've spilled water on a long time ago. Then for some reason, after me swapping the actual pad with another palm rest assembly coming from a dead T41p, that problem never happens again for both of them! So I gue...

Re: Custom CPU instead of t50 motherboard possible?

The components that were used to create the T50 board are stock, off-the-shelf parts, like the i5 processor, the chipset. the CPU socket etc. Of course HOPE and his team needed to design and build a circuit board to put them all together, but that's peanuts compared to what's required to roll out y...

Re: Custom CPU instead of t50 motherboard possible?

It's impossible unless you can design and manufacture your own processors. Between the Pentium M and the Core i series is a major difference in CPU design that cannot be surmounted. Heck, no one has even succeeded in upgrading a laptop from a Pentium M to a Core Duo. yea HOPE from 51nb.com designed...

Re: Custom CPU instead of t50 motherboard possible?

Not to mention that the CPU is intimately intertwined with the chipset. If you could somehow pack all the new CPU technology into the same socket/form factor, you would still not be able to talk to the old chipset through its ancient interfaces. And if you could, it would tremendously bottleneck th...

Custom CPU instead of t50 motherboard possible?

if with the 479 socket there was a new 14nm CPU with latest instruction sets SSE4.2 AVX AVX2 etc. and integrated GPU wouldn't that be a great way to upgrade the laptop? i wonder if someone like HOPE from 51nb.com can make a custom 14nm CPU with 479 socket which fits existing t4x motherboards instead...

how to determin LCD panel using machine type model number?

while purchasing a laptop from EBAY i was on lenovo parts lookup site searching for LCD panel type for 2325-4Z1 it shows both TN and IPS panels. How can one REMOTELY determine whether the specific laptop has an IPS panel or not? is the serial number required?

i use windows xp (pos ready registry hack for updates till 2019) and a firefox addon where a right click on youtube video opens the video in vlc as a network stream, it does 720p easy. 720p is enough for the sxga+ screen. overall works well for me!
