Re: feedback wanted from developers using X61 to X230

An X220 works pretty well running a Linux VM for web development, although it's nothing too intensive (simple PHP/database stuff). The downside is that the screen is only 768 pixels tall in a comparatively short physical package (compared to a X61) and doesn't show as much text as I would like. It's...

Re: I'd like a super light and thin sleeve for my X220 6 cell.

Check this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=107061 As mentioned in there, I have a Targus case that fits the 6 cell snugly. ThinkGreen reports that a Kraun KR.5s fits well, too. Both of these look like neoprene sleeves, not sure if they're too thick for your liking. The red an...

Re: Questions about the x220/x230

Not sure if you've made a decision yet, but I happen to have a (bad) pic of a X60s next to a X220 . They're not quite lined up with the keyboard at the same location, but ZaZ is indeed correct- the X220 palm rest is shorter. It does come to personal preference, but I can notice the difference and fi...

Re: Neoprene second skin for x220

I have a Targus neoprene pocket case that fits a X220 with a 6-cell. http://i.imgur.com/LEQsrh.jpg It's still a pretty snug fit, but I put it with the hinge/battery bulge next to the zipper with the pocket on the bottom of the notebook- this way items I put in don't crush into the display. The two i...

Re: Succeed to install a 12.1" SXGA+ LCD for thinkpad x40 / x41

I've only half-way done the mod for a X32 (the LCD pinout was exactly the reverse) and succeeded with the X61s. I believe a modified bios was required for both, although Ubuntu was able to correctly detect and use 1400x1050. The Thinkpad boot screen was tiled and the hsync was out of whack. I've see...

Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor

Sorry for the late reply. Here are the specs: Core Duo L2500 1.83GHz 2GB RAM Windows is reporting ~150GB, which probably means it's a 160GB drive (Seagate ST9160823AS) Display is a XGA (1024x768) from a Thinkpad X61s. The type of hinge assembly is the 'TMD' type, which I believe is the ultralight di...

Re: Yellow cast in X220 screen?

Does the screen have the same yellow tint during the 'Thinkpad' image when you power the notebook on? I'm not sure when the screen color calibration takes effect (would presume it is at the driver-level which requires the OS to load), but if it is consistently the same I'm more inclined to believe i...

Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor

Incidentally, I have a x60s that I can't take to work anymore due to some policy changes (silly and limits my productivity, imo). From what I can remember, I believe the processor is a 1.8GHz Core Duo, 2GB of RAM, 100 or 160GB HDD. The lid is the TMD (ultralight?) screen from a X61s because I did th...

FS: X32 2GHz 1GB RAM Bluetooth Atheros ABG 60GB HDD

Up for sale is my Thinkpad X32. I bought it approximately 2 years ago used and it has served me well. Unfortunately, I have a terminal case of Thinkpadacquireitis and many are sitting around unused. This is where you, dear buyer, come to the rescue. Give this Thinkpad X32 a new home! The Specs: Mode...

Re: Decent, inexpensive X220 sleeve case?

Welp, the sleeve I have for a x120e isn't wide enough for the x220. A cheap eBay neoprene sleeve for the x32/x61s barely fit a x200 and definitely doesn't fit the x220.

I'll probably end up picking up a Waterfield sleeve if I can't find anything that fits a 6-cell well.

Re: Favorite X Series of All Time

I like the X60s/X61s form factor and weight, especially since you can do the SXGA+ screen mod. I almost picked the x120e for the size, but it has too many cons to be picked as a favorite. X200-series was basically a wide X60s while maintaining the weight. Not a bad little machine at all. I would con...

Re: X220 built-in microphone

Generally speaking, dual microphones allow you to do more signal processing such as noise cancellation or noise isolation. Re: x100e vs. x120e please help me choose

Completely forgot about the X200 series. Their perceived weight is just as light, if not lighter, than the X60 series. You'd get a full-size keyboard, widescreen, and an updated processor over the X60. I have an X60s with an Atheros BGN chip and had a X61s with some Intel chip. Neither of these heat...

Re: x100e vs. x120e please help me choose

I will defer the x100e vs x120e discussion to those who have had experience with both (I only have an x120e only). I would lean toward the x120e due to less heat and slightly better graphics performance. However! If what the good Colonel says is true regarding undervolting, the dual core x100e is pr...

Re: SSD in x120e - which size?

I think it's probably a poor wiring job. Notebooks are usually designed with a place for everything, so it probably just slipped out of the guide. I did notice that one of the wifi antennas was connected/routed in a strange orientation, so it could just be sloppiness/less attention to detail at the ...

Re: New x120e

The x301 feels thinner due to the weight being distributed throughout a wider area. It feels nicer because of the rubberized finish on both the palm rest and the lid. It'd be nice to find and apply an aftermarket paint/coating like it. =D

Re: Upcoming X1 [pics]

I feel it's a bit unfortunate that there will never be a 12" x301 class Thinkpad. That would be my ideal notebook but it would be cannibalizing the x200 series, unless, of course, it was the next one.

All I can wait for is to see what Lenovo does with the LV Sandy Bridge.

I've noticed that if I have a USB stick plugged in during a cold boot, the boot splash (Thinkpad) screen will take ages to appear, if ever. There's still enough time to hit enter and plug in a USB device before hitting F12 and for it to recognize the boot device. Like many other Thinkpads, there are...
