Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes

Does the fn+brightness keys generate acpi events for anyone on Linux? Running xev doesn't detect the key. It's still adjustable but its kind of annoying that Linux won't know the brightness level has changed when pressing the brightness function keys. Bios: 12/10/2016 EC: ec0106 Batch: 2nd Also, the...

Hi, Does anyone have a link to the latest Bios and EC? Is this it? https://pan.baidu.com/s/1i5yYD0L - I see a bunch of bin files and not sure what file should be used to flash. Also what are the steps to create a bootable usb - do you use the x61 bootable bios from Lenovo? Thanks! Edit: I was able t...

Yup as long as you got the modded bios you can just replace the existing 6205 with the 7260. I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS w/ kernel 4.1.19, everything works fine, didn't have to tape any pins.

Re: X201 Noise and thermal performance

I use a x201 connected to 2x 1920x1080, 23" displays. No issues. I also have it docked and its not loud at all unless the fan is being ramped up to max even then I don't personally find it very loud. Idles at around ~54-60c (docked). Hope this helps!

Album: http://imgur.com/a/VIeM3 This is amazing, I hope he posts more details and the BIOS mod to make this happen. Very exciting, the x220 is the last o...

You can drive 2 monitors from the dock and then use a usb-to-dvi converter for the third (you will probably need to disable the monitor laptop when using 2 external monitors from the dock): Lenovo Usb 3.0 Usb to Dvi: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/0B47072/460/D9D7E3B5E92F40DD9D2CF85459B8AF...

Re: Possible X230 FHD/1080p compatible Display?

I think if it was legit, someone would have done it already. However, it looks like it might be possible take the lcd panel from the Dell XPS 12 (12.5", LP125WF1 ). However there are some issues being that LVDS isn't going to be enough to drive the display, leokim (famous for x6x SXGA+ mod) explains...

Re: First Post on thinkpad forums

I recently upgraded my x61s/x61t to a x201 with a wxga+ screen (x200s/x201s), it's wonderful. This was the kind of laptop I was looking for when I bought my x61s. The pros: core processor, (1440x900 res, not sxga+ but its acceptable), ddr3 (cheaper buying 2x4gb ddr3 than ddr2). I run linux on my thi...

Re: X201 WXGA+ screen upgrade

If you want the entire thing preassembled, you'll probably need to buy a x200s or x201s straight up. After that it is just as simple as taking off the entire LCD and swapping them. Just resell the x200s/x201s after you've swapped the LCD's so you can recoup some of the cost. It really is that simple .

Yep that's right, so I am using a x201 with the high res x200s screen. I get the full voltage i5 and have 1440x900 res. Was a direct swap so no need to physically take out the panel or anything.

Re: X220 display mod with 12.5" FHD IPS panel from Dell XPS 12 ?

The X220 is 16:9 whereas WXGA+ (1440x900) is 16:10, so it would definitely not fit. However, there is a 12.5" 1600x900 ("HD+") panel that's used in Panasonic's Let's Note NX and SX series, which could work. Ah I see, thank you for the correction pianowizard. I wasn't able to find much information o...

Any new developments?

I'd be really interested in the x220 with a wxga+ screen or something.. (I like the 16gb and traditional keyboard, new island style is OK but I always hit page up and page down and that gets quite bothersome). The x201 is starting to show its age with its 8gb limit.

Sigh... it seems every iteration is the same. One step forward, three steps back. This is so true. High res screens, but at what compromise? No more trackpoint buttons, 1 dimm slot, no more thinklight, etc - putting more empasis on feedback from their 'consumer insights' (thin is in!), which leaves...

It's actually pretty easy to do. If you have a trackpoint and touchpad: cd /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2 sudo su echo 255 > speed echo 255 > sensitivity 255 is the max value for speed/sensitivity, feel free to experiment with that number. Since the x201s is pretty rare and I wanted a full voltage processor, I ended up purchasing a x200s and then swapped its screen with a x201. I think this route is definitely worth considering if you want to have a thinkpad with a higher res and fairly modern cpu. Looks like I will be sticking with t...

I've successfully swapped a x200s wxga+ screen to a x201. It is truly a deadly combo... first gen i5 and wxga+! i7 would have been nice but I was never able to source one that didn't have problems. :P
